The problem with these coaching threads is the decent cueists come on and try and teach the 'alphabet' of snooker...
Nothing translates because what the beginners should be learning is each individual 'letter'
And... yes... I nicked that analogy from the film 'The Internship', got a problem with that? Coz I'll smash your teeth in on the quick quick... (I'll be impressed with anyone who picks up that reference) x

IMHO, without having the back of your upper right arm directly behind and in line with your cue, you've got to do all kinds of things to make the cue go straight, like freeze your wrist, twist the cue, and punch with your bicep. If you could get a mirror in front of you, and get that arm in line with the cue, then you could start to feel like what a natural stroke feels like, rather than having to steer the cue. Once you can get the arm in line, I suggest potting blues off the spot straight to the sides, with your eyes closed as you pause. You'll learn that you can go ahead and stroke the ball, and the blue will go in: then move towards getting some power from your wrist, not your bicep, starting with the wrist hanging straight down, and cocking it a bit in the backswing.
Good luck...

#The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou pottr
I'm massive into boxing (which makes me laugh when the odd thread comes up on here... genuine facepalm moments at some of the casual fan's opinions). There's this guy who frequents in Seckback's youtube videos called Jimel Barnes (Samson) and the stuff he comes out with is absolutely hilarious...
He's gonna "knock out Vitalio on the quick quick quick"
Check it out, very funny...

yeah I will - I love boxing - go to watch loads of fights. No big ones for a while mind. I had tickets for the last Tyson Fury Chisora 2 that got cancelled - never bothered getting any more - he had two fights cancelled and I got fed up.
I am waiting for Scott Quigg n Carl Framton to get it on - that looks a quality match up.
Anyway that's a natter on a different matter - I will leave this convo and go back to the Les Training routines -Last edited by Byrom; 11 February 2015, 05:34 PM.

Natural potters do this without having to think about it; you Les are not a natural potter so you have to train yourself to do the right things at the right time and first you must get yourself looking at the target when you're playing.
Get this right and all the rest will follow with so much less effort. Forget everything else, forget those too simple routines that get you nowhere, play frames against yourself and others and learn to pot balls.WPBSA Level 2 - 1st4Sport Coach
