Ted I am going to work on things as I go. My back swing will never be what everyone would like to see but we all have to be different. My goal is to get my bridge closer to the CB keep my cue arm parallel and slow down my back swing. Looking forward to this next challenge.
Had a quick look on YouTube and found a clip from Nic Barrow. Might be impossible with your arm problems but it gives you a video to watch of someone trying to coach the delivery of the cue.

Right, the goal this week is to clear the 15 reds from the positions shown in the picture. You must carry on until all the balls are gone, and count how many times you miss. So, place the white anywhere, then try and clear. Every time you miss you must carry on from where the balls are until all the Reds are gone.
Obviously the ideal would be that you clear all 15 without missing at all. When you first start, you might clear, but miss 10 times. Obviously then, your targer would be to try and clear, but only miss 9 times.
Good luck everybody!

nice routine, a coach once gave me a similar routine, but with all 21 balls, i only managed to clear the lot once, very useful. should be fun doing this one

Yeah it's a nice one. I reckon you're capable without missing!

Yes I am looking forward to this one. Looks very interesting. Might get a chance tonight but if not tomorrow morning. I have guy coming tomorrow after lunch for a match. He is just a little better then I am so it should be a good match.

Thanks Markz, I had a look at it and it is very interesting. I just emailed TD and told him with me choking up on the cue to get my arm paralel and shortening the space between my bridge and cue ball like he has told me this enables me to draw the cue back as far as I want but then the problem comes how do I control the speed? But then after watching Nic with the rear pause it seperated the take away from the delivery and gives me that chance to set you speed. It's like a whole new game.

Glad it helped Les, it's exactly what Pottr wanted you to do. I thought watching a video would show it being put in to practice for you to see. Just experiment with it and you will soon learn the pace of shots. Routines are great but getting the basics as good as you can first will give you trust in your technique and more confidence going forward.

I will keep working on it. Another frustrating day. Can someone tell me when I will start runing 20's, 30's & 40's when it actually counts. I was really impressed with the way I hit the ball today..........BUT I played a match against a friend of mine today that is a little better then I am. I actually played very well if you can call making reds. No matter what kind of stroke I am using I seem to get the same outcome. I make a good red and make good shape on a colour playing shape for the next red but miss the colour and leave my opponent with my shape. I lost 7-1 with a high break of 12. He plays a lot of tournaments and told me my safety play is fantastic probably one of the best he has seen. I would get him in trouble and he would leave me in the balls I would miss and he would run 20's and 30's and 40 some odd.

What you are saying above defies logic. If you can make a good red and get position then there's no reason why you can't make a good colour and get position...unless you have a mental block of some kind.
My advice would be to do your routines as a warm-up exercise and then switch to a normal rack and play yourself as tight as you can as in a tournament...BUT...when you miss a shot re-set that shot and keep re-setting it until you get it right and then move to the next shot. It's sort of like a car stuck in the snow, you have to keep rocking back and forth until you get the momentum to free the car out of the snow bank.
With your snooker you have to keep re-trying every shot you miss until you can get it right and then you should build up some confidence on at least that one shot and similar ones you come across. I think you are frustrating yourself and you have to find a way to break free of that. Don't think about your technique at all when playing a normal frame with yourself, there's time enough for you to do that when you're doing the drills

Thanks Terry, Floyd says the same thing. No matter how you hit it unless I can free myself of this mental block you will continue to play like you are. These colours where not difficult but just before I get ready to hit all these negative things start going on.

To be fair Les if you are leaving him a chance and he is making 30s and 40s , hes more than a little better than you, he's a few levels above you, so I wouldn't be to hard on yourself.
I wasn't going to say anything about this as its just going round and round in a loop, but until you can cue reasonably freely and get through the ball I feel you will always be in danger of snatching or throwing in a quick one, being able to pull the cue back isn't just for affect, it lets the cue do the work so you don't have to use effort to cue, when I first came on here Pottr told me you are after maximum reaction for minimum effort, and I think this is a really good saying.

I would like to think he is miles better then me but he is not. The first time I met him was last year about this time when he called me and invited me to his place and he won the first two and I won the next 6. I was making great shots and shape was just simple. I think I ran a few in the 40's and a bunch of 30's. I was in a zone and where did it go i have no idea. That's why I get so frustrated I truly believe I can play this game a lot better then I am. Something goes completely wrong the minute it's game time.

You kept that form quiet Les, last year all I can remember was you getting the potato peeler out to the cushions on your table(I still think that was one of the funniest comments ever made on here) well I should have said he's a few levels above how you are playing now, I think that would be a fairer statement. If you were there once, you can get there again, can't you try and copy how you played then(easier said than done )
