Then guess what happenes when Les start putting videos up of his shot routines or should I say cushion shot practice on his 9ft table, yes you've got it "Les get a proper table that's just an oversized Pool table and how can you practice on that when it's not full size"
Good one Leo, that's exactly what would happen. Well I hope to get down to my table at some point today to try the new challenge.

      • well good players will know what i mean by proper practice, when you've done all the routines and you start looking at the weak points in your game, like playing from the cushion, using the rest, safety shots and so on.. if your not planing to compete and your just playing with yourself then who cares
as for the tables, if i remember right old les was struggling to pot a ball on his 10 footer and needed his potato peeler to open up the pockets. well again someone thinking that all 9' tables are just over sized pool tables don't know the score. there are lots of fantastic 9/10' tables out there that have no relation to pool.
knowing you have a table thats restrictive will cramp your game and you won't last long under those conditions, you need the right table for the room

          • Les one of your mates Cliff Thorburn is in our local club this afternoon, I'm just ironing some £50 notes and heading over there to see if he wants a money game.

Paul Rinaldi owns the club and I think he spent a few years playing in Ontario at some point
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

              • Tried this weeks challenge missed last blue for a five time round, but I felt I was cheating as I stuck a load of blues in the top bags and I think this kind of defeats the purpose of the exercise, I'm not doing any more of these I am just going to concentrate on the black routine had three thirty odds today, I am getting much more consistent ,I really want to do 100 , so I will leave you all to do Teds exercises and wish yous all the best in beating your personal bests on them.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I think you'll do it soon, you've done the line up and now 33 blacks, you seem to be coming on pretty well.

Good idea like a recap. To bring new comers up to date. I can probably post something if Ted doesn't. Just let me know Ted.

                      • To be fair Leo ,it's the monotony of doing it that makes me break down, I lose count and get bored, but I think this is the point, it will teach me greater concentration , for me it's not keeping the cue ball under enough controll(that's not to say I can't muck it up) it's being lazy.

No need, these 'challenges' are as old as the hills and if you're a serious player you don't need someone telling you what to practise.

                          • I'm going to stick to 15 reds for a while until I can complete a couple before moving on.

                            • The challenges IMHO should be completed before moving on, this will cause headaches and heartaches for those participants but it will give those so much more of a sense of achievement if completed.

I agree but the problem with players such as myself tend to wonder from website to website trying every routine but not accomplishing anything. So what Ted did was set up a challenge to put structure into my practice and other TSF members of my calibre have joined in which I think is fantastic. I am going to post all five challenges shortly which I have designed in photo shop so guys can print them out and keep them in a binder. Ted I am thinking maybe after this week we should maybe do a review where we spend a week completing the first five challenges before we move on.
