I am with you on that. TD has always told me to replay the shot, never start all over. It produces confidence that you can make the shot once you make it.

    • Nearly cleared all the colours today, missed the black after a poor shot to get on the pink left me needing the rest, then the cueball on the cushion. Lost count the amount of time I missed the yellow though for, for some reason I find yellow to green the hardest shot

Thanks Terry. I will do that tonight on my practise session.

If you are making the yellow straight in then you have to use screw and it may be you are tightening your grip a little early to get the screw power. I recommend you set the yellow up as a 3/4-ball and use the side cushion with centre-ball striking and then you just have to learn the correct amount of power. Best to get the green straight, or almost straight, in as then if you screw back 2" from the green you're perfect on the blows for another 3/4-ball shot using the side cushion and centre-ball again which means your cueball should be coming towards the blue off the side cushion.

Don't over-stun this brown shot though as the middle bag will gobble up your cueball.

Check this site I found, it's the WPBSA coaching certificate routines for youth players, this is a far better structured program for someone learning the game than just trying the odd exercise from here.

Thanks for that, I like these little challenges, difficult to remember them all at the club though, and that's possibly the noisiest website I've ever encountered

Yeah I lost the brown to the middle the first time I managed to get the right angle on it. I was trying angled yellows today, but I kept missing them, couldn't really concentrate properly for some reason. I managed blue to black a few times though, it was almost nice to get that slightly nervous feeling on the black in practice.

Les, I think jonny66 was on about the website link I gave him and not the 5 routines you been doing. It's a great site for someone to learn from scratch all the way to being a top player. All the wpbsa coaches use the exercises to coach youth players.

put it vertical with brass facing up, you can stick it to another tables pocket or lean against something, takes all models of phones, etc :-)

                              • How about a cheap tripod? I have a couple here and they're not very expensive (also not of high quality either but I don't move them around a lot).
