  • The term practice, practice is always an easy term to use when playing Snooker like its some easy fix that will make people a better player which in a way is true but there's always going to be a cut off point for many who will still only make the average level.
A bit like when we all played football at school where you all trained at the same time and all put the same ground work in but there was only one or two stand out players with other players not quite having the same talent yet putting the same hours in, so in other words many carried a better talent then others and adapted so much better a bit like many amatuer snooker players who's talant is shown within a year of practicing.
What I'm trying to say is particularly to the few players on this thread who've now been practicing a couple of years now without really improving to a good Enough standard IMO yet putting in the hours is just "enjoy the game" and accept the level you're playing at and if you bang in a decent break take it as a bonus.

    • If a player has been playing with short 5cm backswing length on all shots since forever, can a longer 20-30cm backswing can be learned properly at all? I don't think so. It is a radical change, especially if you're not young.
Les is putting too much pressure on himself with this worldwide online coaching session. 128 pages and still going strong. His head must be full of conflicting information. How on Earth can one play like that?

        • He said he played better before the forum. Regarding screw, didn't TD say after one session he had Les potting long straight blues and screwing back into the pocket?

          What is different now Les?

J6 is correct. Now maybe I have a jabby short Canadian setup as some have called it,,,,, but I can say one thing a month a ago I could not make 5 blacks off the spot now I can do at least 10 every session, with the four red with blacks n pinks the best I could do might be two blacks now such as yesterday I cleared them first attempt along with the T Which I cleared first try yesterday. So even with my jabby stroke I am improving.

Yes from the right side of the table. put me on the left side and I look like I have never played before when it comes to a screw shot.

Can you get a vid up of long straight blues from both sides then to see the difference?

Because on the right side I lay my crooked arm out on the table and on the left side my arm is half on the cushion and my hand half off the table.

                        • Actually Les screwed back to the baulkline, not the yellow pocket. Hopefully, if Les is motivated, he can get the corrective surgery done since it will improve all aspects of his life not just snooker.

                          • long blue screw is a real struggle for les and its not unlike most players whove not developed their cue action. it takes some work for the players who dont have it come natural

                            • I think people need to start accepting where they are in terms of their ability and just take on the chin that they just might not improve to the standard they wish for and although the great quote "practice practice" works for some remember every player is different where some can adapt quicker with practice and you've got those who just haven't got the ability wether they put the hours in.
May come across harsh to some but IMO it's true.

I gO Friday for my results on my X-rays and Ultra sound but Doc did give me quick run down on the phone. I have chronic cart ledge damage in both shoulders and something about degenativ muscle and nerve damage in my elbow. Could be sending me for MRI
