now for more clarity id need to see some shots at pace, like the long blue with screw
Here you go J6 it is down right ugly. The farther back I try and pull the cue the worse it gets. You will notice my little peice of cloth I laid down. Good thing I would have destroyed my table. I shot videos from three different angles so everyone can have a look. No smart comments as I can hardly lift my arms my shoulders are so soar after that ugly presentation.

    • Hi Les, the reason you are "chipping" the White is because of your body movement. Your shoulder and head come up a little causing the butt to come up and the tip goes down. This is probably why you aren't getti much screw as the tip is running in to the cloth before it is loading the White up with spin. You need to keep the cue as parallel as possible.
Did you put my "1" up ?

I'd love to see 8/10 long blues potted and screwed back into the corner if you get chance. That's very, very impressive.

Thanks I will have another look at the videos and check out my movement. I will just keep laying down my spare Peice of cloth and work on it. Maybe start with a shorter shot and master the movement before I get into the long Blue.

You got that right. I would love to see it also. Floyd was doing it with the cue ball about 6" out from corner pocket, bridging on back of leather and screwing the cue ball right back in the yellow pocket. Just amazing to watch. I use to hit short wedges into the green and get the same action. What's really cool is when the ball just sits there and then comes whipping back. Bring it on Oma

I was giving it everything I had J6. Some shots looked like I had a wedge in my hand instead of a cue.... whole thing took less then half hour. No extra shots at it. It was all first time. 10 reds for each video.

              • well 30min training that everyday for two weeks, i'd like to see what you come up with.
second to last red 4min in on your first vid was your best effort. you dropped straight down stayed still all the way through the shot and cued straight. if you could emulate that more often than not you'd be good to watch..
i would like to eliminate one mannerism that will bring you on

As soon as I hit that one I thought J6 is going to like that one.... dead in the Center of the pocket and screwed the CB back to baulk line. I will fit this into my routine each day. Probably a good warmup routine.

Up to you Les - just trying to help you find a way that makes you happy with things.

Good point Byrom. I think that could be the answer. I tried it tonight and it is better then trying to do a balancing act.

Wow, thats really amazing! Ill post a video next time I head down to Master Q , the cloth on my table is extremely slow... Can manage to get some screw back still but takes a lot more effort on my cloth. Ill post a video tomorrow on my table first but I find the cloth forces you to have to thunder in every shot at the expense of accuracy so really hard to get the cueball to scratch as well which seems to be a lot easier to do on faster cloth.

                      • Heres a little video, think I potted 10/13 or something. Didn't really get enough zip on the screw or manage to scratch every time but its really hard to get good action on my cloth without having sore muscles haha.

Looking good Oma, I am adding a half hour to my practice with Long Blues with screw. I will pull out my training ball that Nic gave me so I can actually see the cross hairs on the ball spinning.

                            • Les I know you only listen to certain members on this thread for some unknown bizarre reason but forget about the bloody blue mate and put all your concentration into the latest break building exercise.

                              • agree here with Leo long blues are good to have in your repertoire, but don't come up in matches many times, so will not win you frames.

break building it the key to win frames and more effort should be put into routines that help with that side of the game. so I would suggest more time should be spent on break building than doing long blues.

I probably do long blues half hour a week or sometimes every two weeks, i'll only practice them when I feel my cueing is off to get my straight cueing back on track
