its all good saying you're not getting the matches in Les but you seem to be stuggling with the basics which doesn't form a very good relationship between matches and practice.

I always found I was the opposite when I first started. I could play alright in practice but wasn't as good in a match.

Consistency is what defines a good player, irrespective of level anything at or beyond intermediate standard. The truth is most experienced club players will have a very wide range of standard depending on the day; anything from not much better than a novice to floating in a controlled 30 odd break. If you can't better this with well regulated practise over a sustained period of time then I would suggest you have reached your level. Practise does not automatically guarantee improvement, otherwise we would all be regular century break players. Be realistic and enjoy what you have, which actually, is a lot more than most.

LOL..... Actually not funny, I had to leave the table before I did something i would regret like firing a ball through the plate glass mirror behind my bar or braking my JP over my knee. After an hour n half of trying the challenge my high might have been 17 and that is a big might. That's how I really feel.

                    • Lots of people play lots of snooker. Very few stay awake at night because they're not any good.

J6 you could be onto something here. Reality TV Snooker Show. I could have all my celebrity friends in to coach me just to see me loose my mind a week later. "Lester's Reality Snooker Show" could be really funny as I am sure all you guys find it.

Les, it must be great having the ex pro's round to play on your table. It could be more beneficial to you and more interesting for them if they would coach you rather than play a few frames. Help you with the basics and getting you to think like a snooker player.

I have been down that road with all of them and maybe that's why I can't get anyone to come back. Not much different then me playing golf. If I get a game I want to play with some guys that can give me some competition not someone that is going to shoot 90. I had Jim Wych and his wife over last night and never even turned the lights on the table. I drank Whisky instead. Good pain medication.

                            • Les we all have good days and bad days, maybe more bad than good. just remember the good days as they are the ones that keeps us going.

i have been spending a lot of time analysing my game , where i go wrong and over the last few weeks have discovered a purple patch , i changed one little thing in my setup and so far my potting has improved at lease by 20-30%.

i am enjoying practice a lot more now because of this. i'm hoping once this change becomes ingrained i will improve rapidly.

                              i'll keep you posted
