  • Bernard Laurin in Montreal took a few inches off my Trevor White when I shathered the tip. He did a great job, weight and balance changed a tiny bit but shaft was good, I am not sure but think that most Trevor Whites are balanced bang on 17 inches. I think I will be able to make next Tourny Les, I put in my request to abstain from work. Cheers,
I try hard, play hard and dont always succeed, at first.!!!!:snooker:

Will the fresh fruit and veggy survive you deserting them? Les will open up the pre-registration on Monday I believe so we'll see you at the Corner Bank just before 11am Saturday

How you getting on with shorter cue Les? I've just gone the other way and bought a 59" cue so having to hold it a little higher on the butt to get right distance between cue ball and bridge but it's working out ok.

Hi Markz, love it. Plays great and I won two matches first time out with it. My confidence level has increased big time. I ordered a new mini extension from Stu which goes from 9" to 14" which will be perfect for those shots that are just out of reach. Big Six Red Handicap tournament this weekend. Feeling really good about it.

Is practice going well with you entering the tournaments. Are you still going through teds routines he gave you? Hopefully shorter cue will give you the boost to improve in practice and matches.

Yes still going through routines but on limited time basis as I have considerable pain in my shoulders. Actually sitting in Docs office as I text. Having injections put into both shoulders today. Suppose to go visit Cliff tomorrow and get a few games in for fun but I am waiting to see how I feel.

Yes exactly what I am doing. My technique will never be what everyone thinks it should be. No different then my golf swing is but I get the job done. That's the main objective. It's not how it's how many.

Everyone's technique is different Les, just need to be consistent with what you have. Even forget about breaks or winning/losing, just enjoy the game and have fun seeing yourself improve. For me when your trying to improve, results don't mean much, I'd rather be learning about the game and progressing myself to the next level. Wins come pretty easy if you keep pushing yourself.

I don't know about that. I have spent the last week running different routines and really potting well. Had some 40's and 50's in the line up and also playing tough six red matches against myself getting ready for the six red tournament this weekend. Went down today and had a visit with Cliff and we played for about four hours and I potted very well. Stopped in at another club and played in a six red qualifier and lost three straight with a high break of 8. My Hcp was 20 and the guy I played was 22 so I spotted him 2 and he had over 20 points going into the colours all three games. I look good on paper and I look good on the practice table but I look like I have never played before when the match starts. I am not the least bit nervous as it is all in fun but it really is getting frustrating. I know it doesn't help that the only match play I get is when I go to a tournament other then that I play by myself. Sorry for the long post just trying to make sense of it.

                            • Well, Les. It basically comes down to the fact that you're just playing at your level. Matches are totally, totally different to playing in practice in the line-up or even playing against your mate.

Everybody will drop down a level and not play their best snooker in a match. The guys on TV are not playing right a top of their game in a match (though occasionally they will).

So it basically just comes down to realistically knowing where you are with your game. If you can make 40 in the line-up on your own, then for real match play you can halve that straight away. Then halve it again because the balls are never that easy in a real frame. So now we've got your realistic average break, which is 10.

I mean, take a guy with a high break of 56 against his mate in the club. He's gonna get nowhere near 50 breaks in tournament play. He'll be more like a 20 break player at best in competition.

That's just snooker. Nobody plays at 100% of their game. It's just that for the better players, 65-75% will be just fine in matches. Then occasionally you play almost to the top of your game. But I've probably played about 2 or 3 matches in the last 2 years where I felt like I was flying.

Well that didn't help.... but I understand you completely. I guess for playing the game for three years what can I expect. I am going to break down real quick in matches. I have little experience and have to just take learn from my mistakes. I am going to try and video tape a match so that I can give a copy to Cliff, Terry and put it up on here.
