  • Good for you. I once played a round with a one armed golfer who was 3 times world one arm golf champion who could certainly belt it so maybe a fully working arm/arms are not as crucial.

Snooker, a firm bridge and bridge arm are essential or you will never hit the white consistently well

What proof do you have of this?
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

Class myself as average because I am happy knocking regular 50s.

I wish I'd got a table at home, had a coach like Terry to call on and play with ex pro's and a world champion but I'm not that lucky. 95% of the time I'm down the club doing routines over and over again so I get confidence in my cue action. We are all adults and got our own minds, I've learned from many posts on here but I agree you got to take out the bits that can help your game and not worry about most things that can confuse the game even more.

Don't think much point in me contributing anymore but good luck getting to the level you want Les.
You see thats what i mean, the term snooker handicap was an analogy and les would have understood it, as for the occasional 50 break that would put you around 24 at golf

          • I'm like you Les. I really struggle to just enjoy the game as I'm always striving to be better and/or win!
I tell myself "it's only a game you should enjoy it" but the little voice in my head tells me I "must" win everything! Some of us are just programmed differently I think and will always find it difficult to "just enjoy it". I wish there was a simple solution but I'm not sure there is??

I understand snooker handicaps and getting regular 50+ breaks. I've just got no interest in golf, I'm here for the snooker.

No deffinatly not. This forum is great but yes there are many people trying to help. When Ted first started this thread it was more about his challenges and a few guys took on the challenges and also posted there videos but it has gone off track. Maybe it's time for Ted to start posting a new challenge every Sunday again and players can take on the challenges and post videos and hopefully get sound advice. I have found myself back to banging balls around with no constructive pracrptice. I did check out the Ding App, wow if i was to complete all the routines I would be heading across the pond to give Ronnie a go....LOL

                  • The trouble is you completely ignore advice from accomplished players who have had countless tons (in actual frames not practice routines) and yet others who make the odd 50 give advice and you and others are all over it like they are some sort of coaching messiah!

Only TD and others who see you in person can actually help you. I believe Terry has also said your bridge and arm will hold you back.

When guys post comparisons I understand completely. My nephew who I play a lot of golf with asked me the other day how I would compare to a golfer of your snooker caliber? One of those guys on the range trying every driver they can find, the latest clubs and every gimmic they can find on Golf Channel and can't break 90. That's me a greensley as we always called them....LOL I think if I could get to a mid 80 shooter I would be real happy which I would compare to being able to run 20's to 30's and the odd 50 by the end of the season I would be happy. The mid 70's player to me would be a player that runs 60's to 70's and the odd 100. Sorry to bore you.

The problem is how do we know who is accomplished and who is not?

I think in a twisted way we are enjoying it or we would not continue to search for help. We would not be on this forum and we would not be trying to compete in tournaments. We would just quit. I was asked once by friends to come play some basketball. I sucked and did not enjoy it so I quit. That's the difference.

You are just Lurking in the background waiting for that next video.... maybe there is a real good player on here that wants to work one on one with me through email and skip the thread. Any takers. Someone that really wants to turn me into and mid 70's golfer.
