I have not been doing any routines strictly playing full games against myself. Maybe I should put up one game, this morning the black was tied up so I had to keep making shape on pinks. I ran four of them. Next game I ran four blacks. Cliff told me to just open them up and start potting balls. He said you will start to believe in yourself and you will start to see shots a head of time.

That's what I figured. I was really impressed with the pinks I made. Nothing like building confidence. I will try and put up a video of me just playing a game. I know I will probably be asking for trouble but like you said I am tough I can take it.

It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

You either want to keep putting up videos or you want to get better, it's up to you Les.

I am going to get better. I played a game against myself this morning and I am uploading it now. I will put this one up just so you guys can see that I can pot balls and make some decent shape. But this will be it for now. Man I am addicted to this game. I can say one thing I enjoy the game much more playing games against myself rather then beating my head against the wall trying to perfect routines. Cliff says there is no better practice. His comment in regards to the line up was how many times do you find even four balls all in a straight line in the middle of the table. You will notice in my video I put the black back on its spot if it gets down table. This practice is not about playing safe it's all about making balls and positional play.

the brown blue pink an black balls are always spotted in the middle of the table.
im yet to win the world championship but i know if you knew how to do a lineup you would never of landed on the cushion after potting that first black, then go on to mile the next red wich just happened to be above the black, yep in the middle of the table

                      • Then I guess every coach in the world are getting it wrong by getting students to do the line up. Les, don't let people put you off the basics. The line up routine is one of the best you can do for learning cue ball control as it makes you use every part of the cue ball. It's a routine that all the top players in the world use. How can it be wrong?

                        • this guys got a few moves

nothing wrong with playing frames on your lone, knowing nothing about practice age 13 in 1983 after sitting in a smoke filled room for an hour waiting for a table, i would go out there set the table up, smash em an try an pot everything.

The ex world champion knows more than anyone else on this forum, keep it up.

                            • No Shaun Murphy the line up can't be that good and versatile. Cliff thorburn said it's useless and the balls won't end up down the middle of the table in any frame.
No offence Les but Cliff is wrong.

I did not say it was wrong and I will go back to it from time to time. The reason Cliff got me playing games was to get me potting balls in real game situations and also seeing the table.
