  • Les,

I'm sure your head is spinning by now with all the info you have received on this thread. At the end of the day it's all down to practice. You have been given basic routines to do that will certainly give your game a boost and now it's all down to you putting the table time in.

This is the thread about the 51 routines, pottr had a break from snooker and the forum, he wasn't enjoying it. It's a shame as he was always happy to help. Top bloke.

You got that right. I clear the colours on the average 1/100 tries. Time to go back right back to the beginning. Start my Snooker Gym right at the beginning or quit this game.

          • You are to focused on things that dont matter. Just get there and pot some balls. Do some routines and try to enjoy what you are doing. Forget technique forget arm, leg etc. It will not get you anywhere. Go with what feels comfortable. You will be potting better.

Tried to log back into my Sooker Gym account to get started and it dies not work anymore...LOL Well for now I am going back to something u use to do ever night before I found the the gym n forum. Take 6 reds play the yellow spot getting position on green and so on and from blue I okay six from both sides getting position on punk then pink both sides and black to yellow. Maybe this will boost my confidence back up all just simple pots.

Seems like you have no idea how to structure your training to learn the game. You have been to see Terry and you have some knowledge of basics. Terry being a snooker coach will be able to write out plans for you to work on all aspects of the game. You just need guidance and to listen to what you are told instead of going off and doing what you think.

It's no good expecting to just head straight to the last chapter of a book and not understanding what happened to get there, you need to start from chapter one.

You wouldn't rush out and buy a bow tie and waistcoat when you start, expecting to win tournaments. Listen to Terry and learn at your own speed.

                • Les stop reading this forum it does you no good. I am sure you have a way of hitting the ball that is pleasurable. It may not be the most precise or proper. Trust me that is the way you should hit it. You are over 50 you will not reach high level but you may be a decent palayer as long as you take pleasure and think about the game rather then technique. Just let yourselve fall into your own grove. Play your own way. Take it from there. No wonder you cannot clear colours if actually clearing them is the last thing you think about. Try it and make it prority. Just focus on the task and trust your ability. Then start doing it on a regular basis. Small technical tweaks are allowed as long as it happens with a clear ourpose and in time devoted to technique.

I went through my own little routine which I had not done in a long time as I figured I was too good for those simple pots. Then I ran 12 blacks off the spot. I will keep this up for a few nights then go back into Teds routines one by one until I have them mastered. I know one of my biggest faults is exchanging the cue for my clubs the minute the weather gets nice and never touch my cue until October. If I look back I am making these sad feel sorry for me posts about the same time every year.

There's nothing wrong with playing golf when the weather gets nice but with a table in your own home i can't understand for the life of me that you can't still do 30 minutes a day?
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

unfortunately thats not the way to go with snooker you need to be putting time in and that include the summer, i always struggle to go up the club in the summer as there is no air con s they leave the outside doors open and where i play is on top of a mall, so you can imagine the heat baring down in the summer, but i still go.

                          • Ah ah, I wish I had a table at home, you would have to scrape me off it. I work have a large family other things to do yet I still travel to 2 different clubs 4 times a week. At the weekend I do solo till 2am in the morning.

I just can't get enough, a table at home would be the ultimate, I would probably move my bed into the same room ... Lol,

                              • As I noted in my previous post that I was playing Snooker at my Son's. Now this was our first match on his table and after four games and I high run of 39 and a bunch of 20's I sat back and asked myself why am I running balls on this table much the same as I do on Tuesday nights at my friends house. Both tables have pockets close to the same size as mine. My friends is very slow and my son's table is an average speed. The one thing I noticed is how I was accelerating the cue right through the CB because I know I have to hit the CB much firmer. With my table being so fast I think I have developed this little scared jab shot. I came home and continued to accelerate through the CB and I was making everything. In simple terms I am steering the cue ball similar to standing on a tight par 4 and instead of swinging right through the ball you quit on it and try and steer it down the middle. Does this all make sense?
