  • Les i think the one thing you have to do, no matter what table you play on is accelerate right through the CB. this is what controls it. if you jab or quit on the shot you will lose it.

this is what i learned having my latest coaching session with Chris Small. i was always afraid to push through in fear of losing the cueball, however i discovered the opposite, when accelerating through the CB in a nice smooth action the cueball actually doesn't travel that far it goes where you want ( as long as you have selected the right height and power of course)

faster tables doesn't make a difference, i find that its easier as long as you cue nice and smooth.

      • If it's a faster cloth hit the white nearer to the centre if you like to hit it firm, just my 2p, or my 2 Canadian cents

Which is the meaning of enjoying the game. Accerelat the CB confidently without fear of the consequences or thinking about what may gonna happens .
Even if u miss , enjoy ur cueaction and the fact that you striked the ball very well .
Cue well and u gonna get a good position and run of the balls !!

            • Okay TD has been pushing this one thought on me for a long time but always seemed so hard to do. But today it came to me as I was playing. It really is amazing the difference in my cue action when I accelerate through the cue ball. I have always had this thing about loosing the cue ball. I wonder why because I am rolling it and usually hitting above Center on the cue ball. So now my object is to hit just below Center on most shots to control the cue ball. It is so nice to hear that nice crisp sound.

The more you know about table and where CB going end up ,, the more confident u get and as a result , the less thinking during ur cue action .

                • Hi guys a little update on my game. We had a tournament yesterday and TD came to watch. In an email this morning he mentioned I should post something to all my friends on TSF. Here we go, I drew Phil Snache one of our top players in our club which usually ends up battling out in the finals against Floyd Ziegler and of course yesterday was no different with Phil beating Floyd 3-2. Now onto my match I lost 3-1 but the big thing is the one. My game has improved so much that I was actually able to win a game which really was not close as I had him by 35 going into the colours. I also had a chance to win the fourth game and take it to a decider with us even with two reds sitting over the pockets at the black end and black on its spot and I make a red and leave the cue ball dead in on the black tight on the rail which I missed and the rest was history. I asked TD and Phil the minute we finished about that shot. A touch of right hand side to make the cue ball come off the cushion in perfect shape for the black. A lesson well learned. Sorry for the long story but what a boost of confidence. No big high break I just hammered away with a 20's break and a few in the teens and played my normal good safety game.

It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

                            • WEEK NINE: Make a break around the black.

Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to make a break with the balls set up as shown. But here are the rules: every time you pot a red, you must replace the red back to it's original position. So you keep on potting reds and blacks making the biggest break you can. However, you CANNOT play the same red twice in a row. You start with the white ball wherever you like.

With your confidence sky high at the moment, I look forward to seeing and hearing about your results with this one, Les, and also, anybody else that enjoys having a go at these routines.

If you get really confident, you could try scoring 120 points with reds and blacks, going up for the yellow from the final black and making a maximum.
