Les i think the one thing you have to do, no matter what table you play on is accelerate right through the CB. this is what controls it. if you jab or quit on the shot you will lose it.
this is what i learned having my latest coaching session with Chris Small. i was always afraid to push through in fear of losing the cueball, however i discovered the opposite, when accelerating through the CB in a nice smooth action the cueball actually doesn't travel that far it goes where you want ( as long as you have selected the right height and power of course)
faster tables doesn't make a difference, i find that its easier as long as you cue nice and smooth.
