I agree with aceman its hard to make a 50 in open play if you don't know about using side - perhaps you don't like playing with it with your jabby cue action Tel?Last edited by Byrom; 9 February 2015, 07:52 PM.

Exactly! I asked a similar question before. Im just so used to using side, certain shots I can only make when I use side as it seems easier believe it or not. Ive heard countless times that I should only be using centre and I always end up playing worse when I do. Of-course for straight shots I only use centre but if there is slight angle I always use helping side while aiming thick or thin.

i have seen pros use a bit of side on just off straight shots, but usually the would you opposite side to where the OB is going just to counter the just off straight shot

Personally I tend to not use side unless it's needed for position off a cushion. However there is one type of pot I play with side as I find it easier, and it's when the object ball is tight or very close to a cushion to then cut down the rail.

I really can't understand why the arguments on this thread!! We all play our own game on how we feel most comfortable, so there's no right or wrong. I play with unintentional side not because I'm cueing there deliberately it's just how I play since an early age, wether this is wrong who gives a toss it doesn't effect my game.

I just found it very odd, that somebody would be so pleased with a massive personal achievement like knocking in a 101 (in practice with a friend on a 10 foot table). Yet when the same person knocks in a 134 (in practice with a friend on a FULL SIZED table), it's not even worth mentioning. Is it just me that thinks that's odd? I don't understand how hitting the white ball with side affects the object ball, surely the side doesn't transfer to the object ball so how can it be helping side, I understand throwing the angle of the white with a little side and use it myself but are you not making any pot more difficult using side? Educate me

Not really - though I did get some big bills today
I will leave this thread leave you all to it but let me ask two simple questions -
Name me one player in the top 32 that just uses centre ball plain ball striking when playing snooker?
Why do you think they don't?Last edited by Byrom; 9 February 2015, 10:27 PM.
