You will of course have to buy My secrets of snooker DVD volumes 1 to 362 for the discount price of seven thousand plus VAT and also of course to obtain this you must come down to mine for an intensive sesh with me lasting over 2 whole hours but if you buy all 362 DVDs you can have this for just 200 pounds whilst I name drop a bit and plug you into my latest spectroarmgadegetswingmonitorbolloxthingymajig that will give you the optometry and pinpoint feedback on the ideal cue swing for you - thus matching you up with Ronnie O Sullivan in ways you never thought possible and cant understand - I could however do this on-line for only 500 pounds - just send me a video of you playing - I will slow it down draw all over it and send it back tell you how crap you are. However if you come down to mine I will explain for most of the two hours things that go around the houses you will think your head is spinning until your time is up but for an extra 50 pounds a minute - you will also have a chance to mediate with me before lunch that I will let you buy for me - and that is when I will then give you your hypnosis sessions so you believe everything I tell you is spot on and you can then go on to tell everyone else the same in confidence and I will give you a free 25 per cent off your nest sesh where you can pay me to do the line up whilst you look on really impressed.

I will always of course be your friend and am available for a chat any time buddy - only 125 pounds for half an hour to you.

        • I believe you should learn to use side. And then learn, when NOT to use side.
In a proceeding video... the shot to get to the right of the reds required right hand side, but the pot to stay on the left hand side of the reds didn't need any side. Could have been played as a gentle stud. (From what I could see) although it can be played with side. Choices.
Learn the shots and choose for yourself. Which are you more confident with and which is the higher percentage of success and consistency in your game.
There aren't many breaks over 30 when you don't need a little side here and then, and over 50 probably definitely and 100+ without... can't see it.

Ronnie can hit 147s with his wrong hand and a rack cue. You have to adjust to a cue, not the other way round. There isn't a magic cue because we are not genetically designed to hold a snooker cue, a stick maybe, but not this piece of ash or that piece of maple. Cues are nice to own and collect, they're beautiful afterall, but no-one should ever believe in the myth of finding the cue that will change their game. When they get that desperate, they should phone Nic Barrow and make a real impovement to their game!

Vmax has read it and agrees. You can pot balls with your eyes closed, I do it myself as an exercise when I find myself taking my eyes off the object ball far too often. As an excercise it's a good thing to do, but we don't play matches as exercises, and we need our eyes open and it's when our eyes are open that they guide the hand. I have said this all along but somehow everyone thinks I lack this understanding about muscle memory and the cue action, this one mantra on sighting is the one to start with, everything else follows once you can do this.

For those who self edit others posts to fit their own agenda, cut it out, read the whole post, all the words and seek understanding of what is being said.

                        Terry

Please stop giving out too much advise all at once, start with one thing only. I'm pretty sure you do this on a one to one basis so also do it on this forum. Start with the one basic that is essential and don't move on until that has sunk in. Poor old Les has about twenty things in his head everytime he tries to pot a ball, no wonder he hasn't moved on in over two years.

I agree with you that certificates mean nothing. The GCSE's that kids have earned over the past thirty years prove that. everything has been dumbed down to make things easier statisically. That Nic Barrow video where kids are potting balls over the pockets for a stage one certificate or something is just pointless. I could do that before I first picked up a cue and it teaches and proves nothing. But I wonder how much it cost to get to that stage and gain the certificate ?

Whoever it was that mentioned football coaches please for pities sake cut it out. Football coaches do not teach football skills like snooker coaches are trying to do on this forum to those who can't play the game very well.
If you're not a decent footballer then Jose Mourinho can't do anything for you, however if you have a poor cue action and listen to Terry and co and take on board what they tell you One Thing At A Time and you can become a better player.

Myself I think this is a simple game being made more complicated by some coaches who are only in it for the money. Why sort out a players essential sighting problem in one lesson when you can drag twenty lessons out of him by tinkering with everything about his stance.
My mantra is to get the sighting right first and foremost, I believe sincerely that once this is done the rest of ones game falls naturally into place.

Take our Sidd for example, coming back to the forum with yet more questions about his grip. I told to hold the cue loosely and his grip would take care of itsefl. He follows my advice and posts that he played really well by winning matches against the best players in his club. Next post he's once again falling at Terry's feet
Why is this, what is that anyone else has to do on these threads to gain the same respect as those with the certificates ? I'm not looking for it but it would be nice for someone to look up and say thanks mate, you've helped my game. I think only Laverda has said that to me and I was pleased to have helped him, not puffing out my chest pleased but pleased for him.

                        • I was in London once and went to this place where we sat and ate eggs Benedict - it was an invite off a wealthy friend who was buying us lunch and he had reserved a table for us the prior evening.

It was in a place called Knightsbridge - anyway on the way there we walked past a homeless guy and I cast my eyes to him before we continued on across the road and stepped through the door - as we sat at this table me and my Mrs - I looked around and thought - yes this place is nice I mean Jools Holland was sat there having breakfast and I must admit It did feel good to be in company like this for a brief moment and well you can get a bit star struck. The food came and not much of it but with a top quality chief the eggs Benedict was of course very nice indeed. However during this small talk we where having I could not stop thinking about the homeless guy outside we had walked past. It had cost about £250 for what we had and I was among people happy to indulge themselves like this - but I was not paying so it was nice to have a little taster I suppose and who am I to criticise people for living and spending their money how they want? That is fine by me.

The next day me and my wife went to another Cafe for breakfast where we got full breakfasts maybe not as well presented but a hell of a lot cheaper - a decent tidy place that served the same stuff just called it poached egg on toast.

It is only breakfast after all.
