(If this thread is in the wrong place, I would be very pleased if you move it to where it belongs, thank you)
'sup.
I'm now gonna try to follow on my introduction here, which you can read to get to know something about me, but here are a few more details:
First of all, I'm an aggressive Player. A bit like Trump, I always feel more confident when punching balls in - I like stun shots, I especially like (deep) screw shots and lately I'm feeling better when playing power run throughs. Even though I've been playing snooker for just 6 months (and not even consistantly - but I've been practicing a lot on pool tables before) I think I have a decent cue action and I'm improving with every minute on the table.
I made a short video of me playing in a nearby club two days ago, I just thought it may be useful for you to see what you're dealing with if you're gonna try to help me. I tried different camera angles, since I had no ideal place to put my phone onto. I played with one of their cues, since I don't have one myself and the cloth was pretty decent, 3 months old or so. Unfortunately I don't know which one exact it was, but I may find out in the next days or so.
Here is the link to the video, but before you start typing, I want to say something about the specific parts:
At the first part I'm trying a simple deep screw. I'm stretching slightly (as you can see there, my right leg wasn't on the carpet) but that didn't really matter - I even think I play that specific shot better that way, but that is more like a minor matter. Anyway, I remember getting through there as good as I could, but obviously I hat to throw the cue in the air, which is something that I do pretty often, meh. Still pretty decent I think, I got 12 ft of screw back, which is kind of in my max range (I think my "record" was 12,5 ft, so..).
Second part, one of my nightmare shots. You can't see it there, but you can imagine what I was playing there - the 'blue' (or in this case the red :P ) around 3 cushions of course, pretty common recovery shot on TV. Since in the last 6 months I never got not even near the blue spot in playing this shot, I was very happy with where the white finished. Sure, the blue went in off the right side of the pocket, so the cb hat a bit more speed, but it was still a very good effort. Also this shot in Slo Mo, all hail iPhone!
The third one, I'm trying the same shot as #1 but left handed. Even though it looks pretty terrible on that vid (imo), I feel very confident in playing left handed and I think this shot was still a decent effort, not my best but it was effective, 3.5 ft screw back is absolutely not bad!
I think the last part is the one you might have to tell about the most. In the last couple of weeks I was working on my stance, since the distance between my legs wasn't quite as wide as it could've been, so I managed to make that my shoulder lenght, I assume (just as Steve Davis was teaching us!). The shot I was playing here is the same as #2 btw, only this time I was trying not to throw the cue in the air, when I get through the cb. I got a good result, the cb got close to the pink spot, so I was happy with that effort as well, of course. I must say also, that the cloth was very good for playing top spin, but not as good for screw, so I will have to work on both when I get back to my local club in Austria.
That's it. I hope the presentation was not too bad and that you may decide to give me some advice. I would like to know more about my stance (like is it effective enough, what I could do better), my cue action (am I getting through the ball well, how can I manage not to throw the cue in the air without sacrificing power, generally what can I do better here etc.), my left handed play (which is very important to me) and on and on. Anything you can tell me to improve myself, will surely be helpful.
Peace
