TRied the 51 clearance tonight.

Epic failure!

After about a dozen attempts to get the first red I started getting in the swing of this routine. Played the first red from the D - managed, eventually, the 3 reds but failed to get a good angle on the last black to get me up to the yellow. So Ive broken it down into consistently getting 24 then extend that to getting up to the yellow.

Great routine though.

Just had a look at vids,prob OK to practice but the 1st one could cost you a match and the second one most def,so my point is why practice something that you prob would never use in a match.

Probably as it's a good measure of how you're cueing? Same with long blues off the spot with cue ball on the baulk line, you could play a whole session and not have to take that shot on.

spent a solid 40 mins (the length of time a quid gets you on the light meter) doing this routine again tonight. Still haven't managed it... but the first shot really does make you concentrate on the cueing. The opening shot is now pretty much engrained in my shots list, so much so I can play it in different ways to get high or low on the black and that first shot is def no gimme.

Even though I've not completed it yet I feel its assisted me greatly - so I'm grateful to Pottr and I Never Miss... for the routine. And in a completely serendipitous moment, pretty much an identical shot came up when I was playing one of the better players in the club - I floated it in as though as it was nowt!

Nice shooting, aside from a bit of head movement I dont think your technique is bad at all. Very smooth stroke and nice and consistent acceleration. At the end of the day as long as the balls are going in then who cares?

Practice mate

Congrats on pulling off the line out... It takes some doing that first few times. Soon it will be muscle memory and you spot patterns.

I'll film that 5 reds routine later after I've had a snooze... Maybe get Luke to hold the ipad so that you can see the black end.

Heres my attempt at a similar drill I do with 3 scattered reds. The idea is to start with one red and clear all colours while working your way up to as many reds as possible, adding a red after every clearance.

Mick Price used to have a similar routine. Only he would start with 15 and remove a red each time... I'll have to ask him next time I see him but I think once he actually got all the way down to 1 red before he missed!
