Doesn't Throtts mean his opponent knocked in a 45 because he stuck a red up and it's such an open pack with this break? That's the way I read it. If you are giving a handicap of 45 get them split up, you will be unlucky to get punished anyway lol.

I'm gonna have to wait till Sunday to try playing it the Simon way, with extreme R hand side. Raring to have a proper go now though! Bloomin Xmas, right in the middle of the road. If nothing goes down, it shakes the opponent up, especially safety minded ones who are now faced with pots that they shouldn't refuse but may miss!
Markz, did Ronnie use this break years back to really open them up or was it the third ball he used to hit? [note; no attempt to turn this into a Ronnie discussion and go off topic, all rights reserved]

If you give someone a 45 start, break off, leave a red stuck tight over the bag and an easy 40 on the table, even if your opponent only gets 35, you're 70 behind without even potting a ball, possibly stuck behind a baulk colour, don't know if that's a good idea.

I had a go at this yesterday when I went to practice. The first one I managed pretty well, although my long potting is more inconsistent than I'd like.
The second one is much more difficult. Very difficult to get the opening red and then position needs to be very good to clear the table.
Here's a vid of me giving it a go for anybody that wants to watch!
