Quite disheartening to be honest. Life's not supposed to be easy.

My kids are fantastic though so it's a no contest really... and if he wants it snooker wise, Luke will be backed beyond the hilt.

Callie's gonna be doctor though... She decided at age 5
I'm not going to judge you Pottr. you know how you feel inside and what you are capable of. I know kids and life is tough, tell me about it i have 5 kids, although its tougher not having a partner or wife.

at least you have your own table and can spend as much time as you want to sharpen your game and get it to where you want it to be. i know its not the same as playing better standard players but at least you can have lots of practice, i know i would , i rarely go to bed before 2am no matter what time i need to get up in the morning for work.

a habit i haven't been able to get rid of since my Uni days, i would spend all the hours i can if i had a table at home, at least i wouldn't have to keep going out to the club 4 times a week and be away from the family.

i am much older than you , and have only been playing for 6 years but feel there is a lot of improvement in me.
i just wish i started playing in my 30s, i would probably be as good as you now.

keep it going Pal great job

No disrespect, but that would qualify you as the most gifted player who has ever picked up a cue.
Seriously, pottr demonstrates skills that cannot be learned by starting in 30's. At least I have not heard of such a thing.
If there are any players who started very late, but can still strike the ball being this relaxed and with this kind of authority, I would really like to see that.

Pottr is a natural, no coaching and none needed. You can see that his action is not a decided method, his elbow drops on a certain shot, doesn't drop when the very same shot is played again, really long backswing that neccessitates the dropping of the elbow yet doesn't go all the way through to dropping the elbow on the follow through, yet does sometimes.

This is where a coach would tear his action apart to make it more uniform and reliable, but all he really needs to do is get in the groove and have that action well oiled, along with the high confidence that brings, the freedom from anxiety to relax and keep his eyes on the target.

BTW pottr, your action is very reminiscent of a certain Mr. O'Sullivan as regards to when the elbow drops or doesn't, seems to have a mind of its own.

Mate, I'm up at 07:30...get the kids ready, fix breakfast, clean do any other chores.
At 9, I drop the kids at school and then I have half an hour before I head to the office to pop to town or the bank to deposit my dividends.
I work til 18:30 and my 45 minute break is spent getting the kids from school each day. Not to mention how stressful that is in itself dealing with incompetent ****wits I have to.
Then it's home time where I have to cook, clean, do laundry, help with homework and then bath and bed the kids.

By that time... it's really difficult to find the energy to concentrate on playing snooker... Even if it's in the next room, brother...

But... There's Luke who's keen now... So I have made a pact with myself to put the effort in.

Vmax... Pot the ball, get on the next one... What else matters..?

Like you say... Technical pointers won't help me... Improvement for me is all in the mind... And I have more issues with that than I will share openly on a public forum

I hear you Pottr, life's a bitch isn't it, we never seem to get what we want, we just have to make the best of what we've got.

You get out what you put in... So yes, more than likely you would excel.

Hang in there buddy. The kids will grow up and leave the nest and that workload will go way down. If you can practice enough now to keep your skills in decent shape then when you're 45 or so and sitting at home twiddling your thumbs or becoming addicted to the telly or out chasing the opposite sex then maybe you can consider working on your game and improving.

In the world champs I see a lot of great 45yr-old players, albeit some of them are ex-pros like Darren Morgan though.

Despite my advanced age I'm still able to pot a few balls every now and then and I'm only averaging about 2hrs per day by myself because there are no clubs in my vicinity.

It didn't kill me... Maybe I could afford to play more? :/

we can all spot pottrs quallities, the natural flare, cue power, and his imposing strut around the table. these are things that come natural an proberly have won him more than hes lost in and around his area over the years.. but he would be the first to admit im sure that if he really wanted to take his game further than he ever has he would need to knuckle down with someone an look into honing, perfecting and mybe changing a few things

It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

As for Pottr , I realy do'nt think he has any problems regarding to pressure !! According to him , talking to a snooker coach can get all ur pressure away !! So I realy think the next thing wat he's gonna do , is giving u a call !!
