I would say the cue is too short. Seems a lot of effort to move the cueball around because you are having to cue up close to the white with your bridge hand. That isn't giving you a lot of follow through and I can imagine after playing a few frames, you will start to feel tired quickly having to use a lot of effort moving the white around the table.

I used to play with a 56.75" cue and although I'm 5' 10" I knew it was having a detrimental impact on my game. Great in the balls when you are just using soft screw and stun shots, but any power shots or certainly playing on slow tables it was a struggle. BTW the table you played on looks pretty slow but that could be because of the lack of follow through and failing to generate spin easily.

I now use a cue just short of 58" and its made it so much easier now to get through the ball and generating the necessary power with just a nicely timed stroke. You watch any of the pros and they rarely have to generate much power because its all about the timing. I know you said in your vid that you felt your timing was off, but I'm sure that's because of the lack of follow through. Not looking to be critical because I can see you can play, but sometimes players can be a little stubborn about things like that.

Just out of curiosity , are you saying generateing of spin with CB , is dependt on how much u follow through ?? so , the more follow through , the more spin ??

Apologies if you think I'm looking for a rumble because I wasn't at all. I think you could be a lot better player if you had a longer cue that's all maybe 58 or 58.5, I think deep down you also think you'd struggle to create as good shots particular long potting with the cue you currently use and I don't think you bending that arm is as natural as you think probably the cue.

cheers leo, and you could be right. when im dropping down bang on every time, slotting them in, in form as they say. im holding the cue in the reds an inch in at 56, an it feels right. but, i would like to get my hands on a 58.5 so i can open up that bit more.. we will see what comes out of the workshop over the next few months

Yeah they do look lot similar - J6 sights it differently under his eye - moves a bit more on occasion Ronnie stiller on the shot n times it a little more also a tad more pause at the back on the stun both pull the cue right back to the bridge both very fluid and easy on the eye to watch.

Have you modelled bits of your game on his I wonder J6?

well looking good is part of the act, especially when your competing, it can put your opponent on the back foot. i say can cus really nice players dont buy it
from the pro game hendry was the one player i consciously took from, then of cource watched enogh of ronnie to never see him play again.
i think we're all nicking bits off the winners in the game, though when i was serious about playing i stopped watching snooker. but if i was to say now whos had the biggest influence it would be the nuget. thats who i see when looking at that vid. his technique is embedded in my subconscious from when i started to play 34yrs ago.
