  • Cat bite made me play better

A few weeks ago my cat bite my hand and it got infected and swollen, i went g.p and got put on antibiotics
it hurt to move my fingers and knuckles but not a huge pain so i just carried on
i found that in my snooker this really helped!!! I was more focused on a lighter grip but more so on striking the cue ball using my arm muscles not my hand or wrist.
I found i had lots more power as i was pushing through the ball better, my aim was improved and i felt alot less tension in power screw shots, and could screw a follow through more with less effort!!!
Now my hand feels ten times better infection has gone, but im still play as if my hand was infected and i feel like im playing really well nOw i have no tension in my grip at all whatever the shot is, and its helped loads!!!
So thanks to my mean old naggy cat im playinG better snooker
    weird or what!

Does it have to be a cat or any animal bite would do the job?

So every 4 weeks or so smash your grip hand with a hammer and you'll be fine

same as playing with a rack cue, you play well for a while until you get cocky!

the old saying "if your knuckles are white your holding too tight" should be in every players mind especially when playing under pressure. However with a damaged hand I am not sure you would be able to open the grip on the back swing with a view to tighten again on delivery?

I am also a victim of what your signature line says. I used to do 60ies and 50ies which made me think I have the potential to improve and I got in to the technique business a bit too much without any solo practice and now I struggle for 30ies and 40ies seem so far away

If I'd have known that 30 years ago I would have gone out and bought a f*ckin cat

The thread title makes me think of "Rock Star Ate My Hamster"

I can see how the injury could help you focus more on your grip and as it's such an important component spending time on grip and delivery can lead to drastic improvement in consistency. I have a simple rule where the thumb and index finger form a solid weld around the cue and everything else remains loose. The other fingers will rest lightly on the base but not so much that they cause movement of the cue when striking the cue ball.
