Cheers J6, in your video in one bit it showed the cue getting trapped after the full follow through, with having a ten mill tip and a thicker taper this happens to me a lot, it's not that I can't cue through the 12 mm hole ok , there just isn't enough room for the rest of my cue, if that makes sense.
With my cue action it's a mental thing, it's getting that connection between its timing not effort on shots with pace, my brain just isn't at that level yet, I get a few days or a couple of weeks at it but then I fall back and have to start all over again. I will try treating my cue lightly all the time, thanks.
When I think about it, it's probably why I'm good at set routines but not at the same level in games, in set routines, line up, T , etc it's all just nice paced shots as a rule.

I used to cue through a match box and knew my cuing needed a bit of work , so I got myself a TUCA

Had it a few days and it's a good tool .

Highlighted a problem with my grip instantly .

I think it's good and well worth having

good to hear catch, yes tuca reveals everything technically.
push through the floor, release all the tention, nice v on on the bridge, cue from the elbow letting the cue off the leash, close the back of the hand on completion.. stay with the shot and stick with tuca

Hi catch, mind sharing what problem you rectified? Maybe we could learn something from it.

Yeah sure ...... I have a tendency to put a little unintentional right hand side on the ball . When cueing along the baulk line the cue finishes dead straight ....after playing a shot the cue finishes dead straight .....But when I play a straight ball with the aim of potting the white into the same pocket I often find I have put a little bit of right on the ball (even though my cue finished straight .

When using the TUCA I can see that my cue shaft just scrapes the side of the hole on the way through . So it starts straight ...goes a hair right and back to straight at the finishing point .

After a while of using it I could feel that at a certain point on the delivery my wrist would tense a bit...such a slight amount that I couldn't tell I was really doing it . (not sure why it tenses...maybe trying to keep the cue straight ) .

After trying different grips I found that I could get my wrist to not tense on delivery and get the full stroke a lot more effortless and then I had much more successs with the TUCA .

Just a couple of thoughts after a about 3 weeks with TUCA albeit not using it everyday. In my opinion the TUCA is a very good tool to help you identify and correct issues with cueing straight. I found it very difficult initially, clipping the sides, pulling back and have the edge of the tip clip the hole. But gradually I found that in order to do it properly, you really had to eye up the centre of the ball and be more controlled with slower feathers, as well as a lighter relaxed grip.

I was surprised how inconstant I was with it at first ....kinda embarrassing actually . I'm fairly consitant now with the 12mm card now .

                    • I haven't done any extra table practice this season but have been using the TUCA intermittently and have been rewarded with my best season in a long time.

Reached 4 out of a possible 5 finals, winning 2. Plenty of big breaks and consistency
