1/2 ball shots are so different to the 3/4 ball ones iv been going through on this thread. your actually contacting very little of the face of the ob in comparison to the 3/4. whole shot pattern structure is wider, so the white comes off the ob quicker and can be harder to maintain good position.. a very valuable shot and one im looking forwards to getting into
3/4
1/2

So, in order for you to say whether or not it's a 3/4 ball shot on the Pink, you'd need to be pointing perfectly down the line of aim, but in that screenshot, you're clearly not pointing straight down the line of aim for a shot to pot the Pink.
So, I was just interested that you hadn't noticed the camera wasn't even on the line of aim properly.WPBSA Level 2 - 1st4Sport Coach

i did mention that the camera seemed to the left and this is why originally the ghost ball seemed planted thinner than 3/4 ball.
it was just an observation that's all. j6 was standing behind the camera and saying it was a 3/4 ball. he was probably correct when he lined up behind the shot but from the camera angle we were seeing something different.

from the image i tool a still and did some photoshop not to disprove you but just to explain how it looked to me and some of the other members.
so here it is
Originally Posted by Leo View PostAlibaldi it was a 1/2 ballOriginally Posted by j6uk View Postthanks for that baddi and without being controvercial, all the shots on this thread are 3/4. im putting the ball in the same place as the 3/4 you were trying into the corner and its the same shot so, its impossible. 1/2 would be inbetween that point and the black
in my image iv moved the cue ball so as to give you a more realistic view of what a 1/2 ball pink would look like into the middle pocket. notice that the pink is covering the white into the yellow pocket, and if the white was just above the black on that line youd have a straightish pink into the corner
face the facts and dont miss
3/4 pink in the scoring zone, the recap
Hi J6.
Thanks for starting a great thread and for the videos - I look forward to more on the other balls and angles.
However like a few others have commented on this thread I don't think the positioning of the 1/2 and 3/4 ball pinks is quite right - the cuts all appear to be too thin for me. Shouldn't the pink be on a grid of thirds rather than quarters? Looking at the ghost ball over the table a third of the way between pink and blue along the cushion is right for 1/2 ball - similarly two thirds of the way to the blue pocket for 3/4 ball. The maths for this are almost perfectly a third and two thirds too given that the deflection of a 3/4 ball is 14.5 degrees and 1/2 ball is 30 degrees. Please try it and let me know if you think I've misunderstood.
Cheers.

thanks for your input. theres quite a difference between 2/3 and 3/4, 2/3 being inbetween 3/4 and 1/2. have you tried these shots yourself on the table, and do you see this pic as 2/3?
