I feel I get along fine with other members on here so I'd appreciate you not trying to stir anything up.
( If I have ever upset you please let me know, maybe I can ring you to apologise / discuss this if it is the case ? )

In the meantime, enjoy The Masters and keep smashing them balls into the back of the pockets

Sorry to go off topic peoples - not my fault.... Please resume with normal service.
It's pathetic Mikey, one such loser of this group of muppets got banned for his immature comments. They constantly keep banging on about me being a banned member called 2v1977. I even explained to them that 2v1977 is my brother. Now that avenue has been exhausted and they haven't got me banned for it they are now saying I'm mikeyd100 or BarryWhite and masterblaster.
It amazing how grown men on a snooker forum can act like children trying to cyber bully other grown men.

The best thing to do Mikey is ignore it and report any off topic or insulting comments.

You watch, the divs won't be able to resist commenting on this post.

Nice, that's a super-Davis routine! I sometimes do 8 balls across the middle but 21 is on the up. I'm having trouble playing the trumpy screw just off the rail white in and out of baulk (but the pockets are tight). Seem to be hitting it a tiny bit thick. Will give that a go to see it it sorts me.

      • Over three hundred posts in a little over a month BW, an average of ten a day, just like MB; one wonders how you find the time to play the game at all yet alone have any past experience.

Frazz mate, the tv tables have bigger pockets, especially the BBC ones as they have a wedgie on for tons, they think the paying public believe their hype of ever climbing standards, myself I look at the blue that Judd potted today and the standard reached on the first day when the table clearly wasn't level, but no more than having to allow for a regular napped cloths drift, and the fear that caused in all four players.

        • Do you think they use different templates Vmax? Or just fit them a bit slacker so to speak.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

+1 fact is they have near perfect conditions and as such can play very softly and accurately now im not saying they couldnt do it on a club table with 3 year old nap but it did make me laugh the other day when the table was rolling off how hard some of them found it....

Yep, try screwing a red into the middle on an old billiards table with 3.25'' pockets. lol Needs a lot of accuracy and power, more so than a WS table with superfine Strachan cloth.

                • Lol have any of yous played on a TV table? As I said in either this thread or another, I have played the qualifiers at barnsley, Wigan, Prestatyn, eiss sheffield, Welsh open Cardiff and Newport, Mumbai for Indian open, wuxi classic, tempodrom berlin, back room of uk championships, main hall UK championships, on tv in UK championship, on tv in snooker shootout. The bags are not bigger! I said the same myself for years but when I got there I thought oh these ain't bigger! I have watched back my match with trump from UK 2014 and seen a ball or 2 that shouldn't of gone in fall in but it's the conditions, if u get brand new balls, brand new cloths, nobody touching the balls except ref with gloves on, heaters, the lights give off heat, there extra lights u don't see on tv that gives off heat, the crowds, everything combined seems to make the tables more slippy, this is what makes balls go in easier but the bags ain't bigger, same template, same cut, same slate drop

In the WSC in 2014 the pockets were tightened up after Steve Davis labelled them 'buckets' live on the air, how can this be if they are fitted to template ? something's going on.

                    • the tv/computer screen exaggerates. most players here would be lost on a tv table if they had the chance to practice by themselves while everyones at lunch
takes years to get to know these tables, never mind a tv one. then with the pressures of playing for some bills. different game

This is true, I remember watching it live when he said it, but that's just one set up that could have gone wrong, it doesn't mean all tables are set up like that.

                        • When I was at the crucible last year , we got to go really close to the table before the match . I was amazed at how tight the pockets looked . Made our club tables look like 9ball bags

Spot on and Davis has played more TV tables than most. And we've still got the old chestnut. If WS tables are the same as Star, why won't the say so, why won't they release their template. Because they keep refusing, which is very suspicious.

Frazzle, can you explain to me why there are two types of tables at SWSA? I mean, if a Star is a Star, why cut them differently at the same venue? And give the easier ones to the pros in their room? Geoff Large has already said WS a tad under 3.5'' and we know Stars are meant to be 3.25''. A 1/4'' is massive in snooker.

*Ronnie just said the pockets are generous, a potters table. 12 world titles between them and decades as pros. I know who I believe.

I've played on Michael Wasley's table and Rob Milkins' table at the SWSA, and they're both very tight. Ronnie of course made them look easy at the Pink Ribbon last year. Maybe they opened them up when I went to the toilet?

They haven't got the practice tables at the SWSA anymore. They've got 4 tables in the main room that have been opened up. But they've got massive bags. As big as any club table. They use those tables for coaching I think, that's why they've been opened up.

                              • You need to remember whether they are cut to template or not the rubbers are done by humans, not machines so there will be slight differences table to table, as for swsa I couldn't tell u, it's years since I been there but I have seen pictures and it looks like they have shaved the rubbers on some of the tables. Ws have there template and star have a template, am guessing there will be differences whether it be size or cut, remember as well if ws have the only proper star templates then it bumps the price of the tables up and they can charge what they want for you to have the privilege of having a table set to the proper spec
