I am sorry does my point not hold much weight cause am currently ranked 111? Does it help my argument if I tell u I was 71 last season? Finished 40 in ptc rankings? Got to last 32 of uk, last 16 of Paul hunter classic, last 32 in Bulgaria and mullheim ptc, beat Stuart Bingham 4-0, beat Matthew stevens, jamie Jones, Ryan day, jimmy white, had 138 and 139 total clearances against ryan day and mark selby. Maybe my point holds more weight now?
Surely whatever routines we do on the table will help our game out in some way. Does it matter if the routine is NOT done by a pro? Does it mean we shouldn't do it because a pro doesn't do it? Of course Fraser knows what he is talking about and I don't think Barry is trying to say other wise but it looks like Fraser is trying to rubbish him on this thread. After all Barry did say the D test is a bit of fun and will help with cue ball control etc. Just because the pros don't practice it doesn't mean it won't help your game.
Take a look at the line up, of course the balls will never end up like that in a game but we still practice it because it has a purpose. To me any routine you practice will help your game.
I gave Les Edwards some advice on practice routines on another thread only to be shot down by people saying it was ridiculous and wouldn't help him. he was down and couldn't pot a thing and was talking about giving the game up. He contacted me privately and we spoke about the routines I posted for him.
Within one week his posts went from 'I'm giving up snooker because I hate the game' to 'I'm potting better than ever and stringing pots together'. Ok they might not be his exact words but you see my point.
Les was on a high and my routines gave his confidence a boost because they were basic and easy.
the D routine incorporated a bit of fun to what can sometimes be a boring practice session. Even more so if you record it and post it on here.

Ronnie blobbed a red into the middle today, frame ball, regulation ball. Even the greatest can miss to middle bags. That's another reason for everyone to pay attention to them with a wee routine if they find they're missing a few, even ton and maxi breakers. Like I said before, these routines are appreciated by those who've been there and worn the t-shirt. As are Frazz's routines, it's not a competition.

I think you may have misinterpreted my post. I was in no way saying your posts carry no weight. I was not having a go at you in any way.
Is there a post of me rubbishing you in any way?
I know it can be hard to know how someone is meaning a post but I can assure you mine was not written with any malice.

So.................................anyway!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
One of the reasons folk are missing that black on 40 summat or a red on 30 summat is because they're facing a new situation and the pressure of self-expectation in a break. Afterwards, they're like, I can't believe I missed that, I would have nailed my 50, or nailed my ton. One of the routines I like to do to cope with pressure is the long blue at close to dead weight, plain ball. It's not a shot that comes up a lot because folk prefer to play this shot with drag/screw/top spin if at all (due to the chance you may leave your opponent and also doubts about how level the table is) but for training, it's an ideal test of your cueing and sighting. One or two attempts, make sure the table is level and the cloth has been BBI. Why? Because doing it this way makes you switch on, zone and cope with pressure. Pressure is a big hurdle for some but you've got to deal with it. Practice pressure, doing it under pressure and doing a video will make you survive and flourish. The other shot I like to play, one or two attempts, is smashing the long blue in the pocket. This is the extreme of the dead drop, so it allows you to judge your cue action and sighting at the two extremes.
Play them after you've warmed up a bit with some balls if you like, but I love doing them after I've walked in, dead cold. I like to spend just a minute getting everything right, stance, sighting, grip, bridge. Plenty of feathers. Get up if it doesn't look 10/10 when down. It's a whole routine of switching on for the session. If you pot it plumb, you're good to go for the session.Last edited by barrywhite; 15 January 2016, 10:48 AM.

To be fair barrywhite that's actually decent, I'd say do it first thing wen u go in cold. I do the 21 balls across middle of table to start with first thing, some days u hit the ground running, some days it takes u a few misses to get it right but guaranteed by the end of it once you've potted them all your cueing right and feel good

As I've said before, I will be happy to prove to the admin / moderators who I am should they want me to.
I feel I get along fine with other members on here so I'd appreciate you not trying to stir anything up.
( If I have ever upset you please let me know, maybe I can ring you to apologise / discuss this if it is the case ? )
In the meantime, enjoy The Masters and keep smashing them balls into the back of the pockets
Sorry to go off topic peoples - not my fault.... Please resume with normal service.
