Aye your probably right Tom, it would never work.
You are very lucky to have a good snooker scene down where you are, and it must be great having someone of Pottrs standard to spar with and pick up the odd tip( to be fair he doesn't seem the type to hold back if he has something to tell you which is just the way I like it).
He's a good guy, i've learnt alot from him, like you say not afraid of being blunt and telling you you're doing something wrong! He won't mind admitting I carried him in the pairs last night either.. it's a shame we've drawn eachother in the quarters of our local league's singles comp too as it would've made for a good final like last year We are lucky we have a few local pros who don't mind sharing some of their knowledge too so the snooker scene isn't too bad at all.

Sounds like pottr might be on here to ask for advice to get his game back. Help him find his preferred/dominant eye Tom lol

I wouldn't like to guess how far I would have to travel to find a pro that's playing ,let alone one who will share tips with you, are there any in the North East, Newcastle way? If not it would be Preston , or failing that Manchester off the top of my head, or Glasgow / Edinburgh going the other way.
Should also be borne in mind many pro level players are completely clueless when it comes to describing what they do or have beliefs that are proven to be false.
The link between standard of play and standard of coaching is spurious.
I think any level of player speaking from personal experience of what does and doesn't work for them should be encouraged to participate in such threads, sometimes we overlook the most basic of things that players of a similar level are more aware of.
Just don't pretend to be an expert and cut and paste repetitive drivel, to paraphrase one of my favourite sayings, those that can do, those that can't cut and paste!

A lot of coaching advice starts with this line - so how would you continue it
I'm no coach but ....
It would be nice to let the member know that you are not a coach so that the member can decide whether he takes your advice / opinion into consideration or not.
as for what Ronnie' O'Sullivan said in previous posts (about copying info from google or this forum and pass it to other members), nothing wrong with that. If sumone can give me sum valuable info from google, I have no problem with that. After all, it's a forum.
So, you may wanna tell me what's this thread about ? or not ?
The coaching thread is or was probably why many people come on here, its not about as suggested off another member about those of a lesser quality shouldn't be posting on there that's just a bit thick, it's about everyone posting on there whether your break is 20 or 120 it just boils down to the poster who posted the question on who he chooses to ignore or who he chooses to listen to but everyone has a right to voice their own ideas.
Am no coach but, if you cut 12 inches off the butt that will help. "12 inches are you sure" yep 12 inches. "But how will that work" well it worked for me "did you play better" no but it fitted in the wheelie bin and the lid shut. " lol am I that bad" yep
Cheers Ricky
