Like golf, I find it helps to get all your movement done in the "pre shot routine" bit, so cueing up to the ball and then when you are ready to draw back pause then smoothly drive through, that's the moment to be completely still with the head. I find if I concentrate on the part of the object ball I need to hit, that helps keep still for that moment.

There are a few ways you can move when on the shot. If we assume your legs and hips aren't moving, no laugh, I've seen that, Higgins stylee, there's a few more factors around. The head, or more specifically, the neck and traps muscles lifting your head up during the shot. If not that, then we have the shoulders. Cue arm shoulder shouldn't take the shot, the forearm should, so try and isolate that. The last thing is the bridge shoulder. This can be a bugger for a lot of players and the solution is to clamp it down to the table and not move it. If you do this, you also tend to stop the neck and and traps lifting the head, so it serves two purposes. If you don't already clamp your bridge shoulder down, when you do, your allignment will be screwed, so you'll need to adjust your head and cue arm position as well. But it works. One of the best changes I've made down the years. On good days, the L shoulder is below the cue line. Take some getting used to but most of the top pros do it.
