Exactly. I only started playing in Jan (and I'm not too bad, apparently) and moving stuff from the concious to the sub concious part of the brain is the key. Well moving the good stuff rather than the bad, lol.

Try to remember learning to drive and turning right (or left for those that live where you drive on the other side of the road). I assume it was a bit of a mare (concious thought), but now it can be done while doing loads of other stuff at the same time (subconcious though).

If you can't see the edge of the ob full length of the table you will never be a good long potter even with the best technical ability and natural talent ...the more you play the better you plat every thing needs to be grooved ...sighting and timing and good cue ball control is the secret to making big breaks

Than you for kind words, but I don't think I could take a frame off of Martin Gould, him wearing glasses or not. The guy is a beast on table.
Why wouldn't he wear custom glasses like Dennis Taylor, that's the part I don't understand? When he's down on a shot, the head position is so low...not sure how he could look through his glasses.
Have you never tried to play without lights on table? Try it. You might be surprised how much you can pot, You make it sound like it is impossible to play good snooker without good eyesight, but I disagree. Human brain is a powerful machine. It can adapt to poor camera (eyes) no problem.
And supposed decline over 40 is just a myth. Why are Higgins and O'Sullivan still so strong? Mark Davis, Alan McManus...I don't think they miss balls they never used to. Hendry declined, yes, but he must be a minority.

He doesn't sight through his glasses mate. Not sure why he wears them to be honest - maybe to address the cue ball?

That's what I think he uses them so he can see is tip on the cue ball and looks over the top for the object ball ...no one can play good snooker with bad eye sight ..yes I can play in the dark but not has well has I can with them on

I think hendry declined because other people came on the scene and were winning and he probably wasn't working as hard as during the early 90s, I don't blame him for that at all he probably wanted to enjoy his life. However he didn't like the fact that even when he put the effort in there were 3 other excellent players and were younger, it can demotivate anyone and he wouldn't put the hours in. Plus once they started winning more he tried to change his technique like theirs which isn't a good idea when you've played your whole life (won everything) with one cue action and then started messing with it. I firmly believe that Hendry would have been as successful as Ronnie and Higgins now if he was that age. Such a fantastic player like that I do not believe that he was the minority. Effort is proportional to success. Look at why Ronnie isn't winning as much as he did from 2012-2014. In that time 2 Worlds, 1 UK, 1 Masters. Same as Selby from 2014-2017 minus a masters title. This is for a seperate debate but that is what I think
