Most of what I have read about snooker say that the eyes must be kept
on the contact point of the cue ball and the object ball when lining up
to pot a ball the reason given is that if the eyes change direction then
the cue will move to where your eyes are focused and so miss the pot.
since the cue and the eyes are never on the same line except for a straight
pot, would it be better if players were told to keep their eyes on where
the cue was pointing after they have done their mental observations
and decided the cue was lined up correctly of course.
I cannot imagine anyone lining up for a half ball shot and pointing
their cue through the centre of the cue ball to the edge of the object
ball whilst looking at the contact point which is about 10 mm difference.
I may be way off line(no pun intended) here if so I hope there are some
who will put me right.I know there are many ways of learning to pot balls
thanks for your indulgence Winging Pom
