The ball should move towards the black spot end of the table ie not in a straught line due to the nap....

Go through Barry Stark' YouTube channel. It is very good...

Just like what's happening with Selby and a host of other players, both amateur and pro.

I have always insisted the opposite eye to the grip hand is the best for having a more compact set-up and I've always called that the 'sighting eye' rather than dominant because dominant eye is an urban legend first noticed with Joe Davis who was right handed and had very poor vision in his right eye and the definitely cued under his left eye, extremely so.

Bottom line in all of this is go with the sighting eye that feels the best to you and forget trying to get your cue underneath the dominant eye.
Were you referring to this article? If not, it's an interesting insight...

I should have been clearer in my statement above. Dominant Eye theory and the recommendation by some coaches(?) that the cue should be aligned underneath that eye is an urban legend and has no basis in fact. When you use the opposite eye for SIGHTING it leads to a more compact set-up and this is what most great players do. The only pro I can think of off hand is Mark Allen who is left-handed and sights using his left eye. Most right-handed pros sight with their left eyes.
