    As bongo said earlier, there are enough reds and colours on the table at the start of a game, that if you can position yourself on potentially a number of reds, you are keeping your options open and there will probably be a fairly easy shot to get ideally on the colour, and so on.
    IMHO at this point it can go wrong easily because of the options you tend to not focus enough and lose close position as a result.If you can concentrate imidiatly it helps for the rest of the break.

      Yes true; you have to know when to play for areas (but still aim for a particular spot but in the knowledge that under/overhitting will leave an alternative).
