  • Snooker coach/coaching suffolk/east anglia

    Hi everyone,

I am a newbie on these boards.
I have been playing pool and snooker for just over a year now, and I have found that although in that year i have improved a lot, i have got to a stage where i don't seem to be getting any better.

I think that I could probably do with a couple of hours (or more) with a coach who could maybe point out things that i am doing wrong, which will inevitably improve my game.

I live in Ipswich and I am happy to travel within East Anglia.

Can anyone recommend a coach or somewhere/someone to contact that provides coaching.

    Thanks in advance.

There's Phil Welham, who coaches in Norfolk-Cambs-Suffolk-Beds-Herts-Essex - Area. he's a billiards player, but teaches Snooker aswell.

he coaches me whenever i'm in norfolk, and i think he really improved my game ;-)

you can contact him via the eaba.co.uk website.

what sort of things did he go through with you?
and has it improved your game much?

i am not sure what i really need to improve, i know i need to be more consistent, and i guess shot selection as well.

at the moment i am very lucky to get over 30!

              i had billiards-practice with Phil.
the main thing was, that he taught me how to handle the cueball and strike it the right way as well as how to continue get position after every shot - he gave me a lot of training-routines and a few good ideas on 'how to play in certain situations' (stuff only experienced players can tell you).
my game isn't yet where it could be, but i see that there certainly is improvement, i get more breaks and i definitely really started to 'understand' the games - both billiards and snooker.

he also improved the basics (stand, cueing, ...) with some of my friends - which helped them very much.
