red to black awards are still being promoted as far as i know. However, they are definately not being promoted in the way they were 5 years ago. Personally, i think once a junior player gets to an average standard they are far more interested in going into competitions rather than attempting to gain certificates for red/black awards. My old local club was trying to be an accredited centre but I think so few clubs took up the idea that it didnt mean anything to become one and so it seems to have been scrapped. Not sure about the young players of distinction. Hope that helps
