  • Parris Cues

Hey all , Totally new to this forum. Been Playing snooker about 12 years now. Tend to go throught stages of playing alot then not so often..

My highest break is 146 and 133 in a actual match. Ive had countless of 147 in the line up.

Ive just ordered a Parris cue - costing me in region of £750..The cue i have used for few years is only 56/57 inches and as being 6,3 i feel this is too short. The one i have ordered is 59.

Do you think the cue could improve my game or wasting my money?

    What are your thoughts

    Kind regards

Yeh - agree with that saying a little.

But i think my cue action etc is limited to with the size of cue im using as i hold the very end of the cue, and with it being 9mm tip the cue is very wippy if you no what i mean.

    thanks for your reply m8

yeh - i used my m8 cue the other day - not really playing much at all. made a 112 in 2nd frame out of 5 with it so it felt good - i think that was a parris trad. the one im getting is parris ultimate.

the cue i have now i bough from a m8 years ago ( think i paid 100 for it) its always been ok but never felt great if you no what i mean m8

Let me get this straight GazEddy.

You have a a high break of 146, 133 in actual match and numerous 147s in line up practice. You did all this with a cue that "never felt great" !

Mate, I am scared to think of what you are gonna do if your new cue feels really great

Hope you get a really nice cue.

You don't need my advice. I need yours

Seriously though, since you have already found a 59" cue to be to your liking I don't think you could go wrong with the playability. Whether such an expensive cue is worth the price is a matter of personal opinion and you have to answer that yourself.

am planning to go up in 2 weeks, emailed them to see first if they have many in the racks, as with osborne they are mostly made to measure.

my mates parris elite which he got second hand from greenbaize is awsome, hopefully i can find a gud un !

I'm 6"4" and use a 58inch mastercue . I think that's an awful lot of money, but that's only my humble opinion. I understand your problem fully. Gripping the end of the cue is a nightmare. i would definitely urge you to consider another brand though. The forum on cues would definitely be worth the read before you purchase. There's a lot of guys on here that know a hell of a lot more than me about cues, and i think the general opinion is that parris cues aren't the best. I followed the advice of the cue makers on here and have never looked back. Don't rush into anything and just make sure that you're happy with what you get and what you pay, that is more important than anything you can read here. G'luck with your decision!

I've only just read all this, I can't believe my eyes.
As I've said before I recommed trying Parris Cues first as the can vary a bit. If you get a good one they are great.
Having said that over £700 is crazy. Rolo told him to try Trevor what can you do. There are all those posts that mention Trevor White as well as Mike W and Coutts and what not. To not even look into that and get a just as good if not better cue for less money is just crazy!
I hope is a good un.

59+ inch cues from my experiance can be quite difficult to handle too.
But what do I know you're a better player than me.

I am 6ft 2in and wasted about 5 years trying to get used to 58 1/2in and 59in cues until I went to Del Hill for coaching and he proved to me that I could use a 57 1/2in cue with absolutely no problems. Look at Mark Williams (well over 6ft and using a 56in cue) and Ryan Day. Still.....everyone to their own! To get back to the subject of Parris cues, I can speak from experience having tried out well over 60 different cues in the last 5 years and in that time I have asked Parris to make me about 4 different cues (Specials and Ultimates) and each time the cue I have received is EXACTLY as I requested. Perfect workmanship and I have no hesitation in recommending them BUT I will say that each time I went to his shop in London I looked at the standard shop 'rack' cues and some of them are pretty disapointing!

Not only that but he also shuts up shop at dinner as well, sometimes for a couple of hours. This time of year though they are usually busy, orders for Xmas etc. I'd definitely phone up first to see how many he has on display for purchase as some of them are actually cues made to order or pre purchased. No table to try them out on either so you basically just judging a cue by looks.
