Yeah the run up to xmas is a busy time fo him. He always has tuesday afternoons off cuz he goes down the docks to collect his cues from china but demand is so high he spends a couple of hours round dinnertime looking for illegal immigants to go work in his rebadging shop at £2 hr.
Rest of the year you'll find him at all the big tournements he's the one with the placard round his neck that says "Pro's get your free cues here"
I'd love to know why the obsession some people have with JP and insulting him and making these accusations is. Someone started this rumour a few years ago and its still doing the rounds I see. I never see anyone slag off other cue makers who don't make all their own cues either!
Mind there are loads of instances where people have complained about the quality of his cues on the internet. Now compare that to complaints about Trevor White cues and you'll find one on a welsh pool forum where the guy said his ferrule wore loose, and with Mikes cues you might find the one i did where the guy said the one splice on a old cue of his had raised somewhat. Oh and the one where i said anyone who pays mike £25 to have their own name alongside his on their cue is an idiot.
I once had a problem with a wooldridge cue but i was refunded...
Very good service...

I'm not really slagging him off though cueman, just putting a smile on one or two faces thats all. I've never even seen a John Parris cue let alone played with one so I'm hardly in a position to slag his work off.

Yep the good old Internet, a great way to find out accurately about people and of course is renowned for everything being the gospel truth.
Fact is JP is the world's most famous snooker cue maker and his cues are much sought after. Of course there are bound to be some instances where people aren't happy with a product but then again that can be said of anything you buy, cues are a very subjective thing anyway so its very difficult to define what is a great cue and what isn't.
IMO the complaints I've seen about JP have been from mainly jealous people who don't like to see someone getting the successes he's earned and also people who just want to bad mouth him because its become trendy for want of a better word. I remember one instance on the maximum break site a few years ago of a guy called Shinsakuto who had an unhealthy obsession of always slagging JP whenever his name or cues were mentioned at every opportunity. As that was one of the only snooker forums around at the time many people read this and started taking his claims literally yet it was found out the guy had never owned a cue of his and wouldn't know a decent cue if he saw one. Its very damaging to make false accusations on the Internet and that is why I picked you up on this. You have admitted yourself you don't own a cue and never have done so really was there any need to make the comments you did? You said you did it to put a smile on a few people's faces, well would you be smiling if it damaged your reputation and you potentially lost business because of it. Just think again before you type.
gotta agree with cueman there, ive had a few parris cues, the most recent cue didnt look like rest ive had. but my mate just bought one from greenbaize and its the dogs bollocks. so 1 medeoca cue out 4 int bad
lets be fair parris made the bench mark for cue making years ago so does deserve the respect of cue buyers.

i don't agree when you put yourself forward as the best and claim to supply 8/10 professionals you are asking for trouble. good advertising does not make you the best.

I'm curious to know where John has claimed 8 of 10 professionals play with his cues?
In any case, I own two Parris cues; one is a pure snooker cue, the other one is a custom pool cue that I literally begged him to build me to my spec -- although I ended up paying quite a bit for this cue, I could happily have payed twice as much. I own quite a few fancy cues, but this Parris is certainly the best playing cue I've EVER owned or tried.
But as someone said earlier, cues are a very personal thing -- hence, what works for some might not always work for the other.
