  • How to stay relaxed on the shot?

Ho can anyone tell me how to stay relaxed on the shot?

When I close my eyes I feel very relaxed and my cue action seems better when I do it.

I think only you can answer that.

Why are you relaxed when your eyes are closed and not when open?

I suppose it's just something you have to train yourself to do. Some people are more relaxed than others, whereas some people would have to consciously try to relax on the shot. So, get down to the shot and take four or five measured, smooth strokes with the cue, pull back and after a slight pause, strike, making sure you don't immediately snatch the cue up afterwards.

My advice would be to watch the pros, and see how they often remain in the position just after the shot for a few seconds. Relaxation would also be vital with screw back, for example, as the follow through is an essential part of the shot, so you couldn't just snatch the cue up and go about the next shot, as you wouldn't be able to execute the follow through if you did.
