I'm thinking about getting some coaching to try and sort out my consistancy, but I've got a pretty hectic schedule and could probably only go once every other week. would that be too infrequent to be usefull?

The thing is a coach can only 'coach' you. It's pretty pointless having coaching every week if your only playing once a week. What you learn from a coach you need to put into many hours of practice to, like 1lawyer said, become natural.
A coach is only there to make sure your doing what he's told you to do, therefore i feel much like 1lawyer, a month between coaching sessions even for someone who plays very regular is enough!
The only thing i have agains the intensive courses at the institute is that you can be given too much to think about at once. Improvements need to be done one thing at a time.Highest Break
Practice: 136 (2005)

well i only play snooker once every week or two, but i play pool (uk 8ball) at least 3 nights a week. the consistancy problems i've been having are actually more of a problem in my pool game as i play that more competitively, so i was hoping a few coaching sessions working on the basics (cue action/sighting etc) might help that.

Coachin every 2 weeks is sufficient although every week would be advised foe quicker progress. Although I would say that im a coach!Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Once a month is more than enough I only have coaching once every 3 to 4 months I think practice is more important only if you are practcing the right stuff and that right techniques.
Buy the Stephen Rowlings dvd for £30 it techs technique, potting,pre-shot routine, shot selection and more.
It is a dvd for people who can't efford the money so you can get coached ever day witht he dvd.

Hi Anthony the dvds are all well and good but you need constant supervision, especially if your a beginner, to iron out faults and potential faults.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Have you got anymore I like to watch all the pros coaching techniques and that to try to see what the best for your self.
I have a son who is 2 years old, he been play since he was 18 month just hitting the white,
he miss cues a few times but he has his own junior table and he loves it he plays hours a day so I want to tech him and when he 5 or 6 there a snooker club that will allow him to play on the table i will have to get him a box to reach haha but im going to pay for terry griffiths to teach him i think it £200 per hour hope he makes a pro if he want to play snooker.
