What you need RocketRoy1983 is an 'out of body experience'

What i mean is, what would you tell yourself if you asked yourself..... Ok thats complicated!!!

If i came to you as my coach what would you say to me?

I remember when i used to coach the youngsters in a group of 4/5 i would cover all the basics and found that there was only one person listening....... Yep! it was ME....
    Highest Break
    Practice: 136 (2005)
    Match: 134 (2006)
    In 2011: 94

i'd say look upto pro poker players, train your mind to be like theres, stone cold.

i don't mind if you banged the table if you played me, as long as you don't mind me gauging my eyes out if i get the hump with my self

        When we playing rocketroy?

            HAHA!! Stroke lol!

definitley have to be several, have to make it my worth while when i go there

Its the only way you can kill of the demons in your head, the blankness of expression is a way to block out the thoughts, cause you're concentrating on keeping your face blank. And thats all you'll be thinking off, and its more relaxing for your brain when you don't have to pull face muscles.

Think about it, if looks can kill, when the pros play the studio need plenty of body bags (specialy with Dott )

I think youve hit the nail on the head! I lost an important match on Monday but played poker-faced like and concentrated on EVERY shot. If id played the same game in my usual flair-like way id have lost either by more or lost the plot and my concentration. I think this is definately the way for me to play as I blocked out all outside noise for seemingly the first time.

              Where are you again? Watford?

                lol Watford,

                No from Thamesmead se London.

And remember don't care what others think, play your own game, be cold. Never try to impress. And never cater for someone else by playing like someone else, ie if i play a slow player i'd still play fast, my usual paste whether the other player like it or not and vice versa, not out of disrespect. Its the way I play. And I won't expect him to speed up cuase thats the way he plays. As long as we show respect for each other its all good <---imaginary player that is

Remember snooker players make great poker players, i've certainly won a few in the past

you checked out my practice vids before?

Can't remember, if yes how can I improve, or what aereas of my technique needs improving? my COACH <--- always wanted one

lol!! just like me, but i think its to do with not being confortable with my cue, and i have to kill my demons, always saying to myself i could do more in practice, and i need to show these guys what i can do, then it never happens.

i to have to think like a poker player, i'm to messy about kinda player, partialy its because the types of openents i get are poor players from work who just have a knock about during break time.

no good. can't wait to meet up for a game. played thai_son on here, but he beat me, and i was trying to bed in my talisman tip. hopefully i will get revenge woo haa ha!!

You sound pretty similar to me. Watching Ronnie from a young age I copied him a lot and certain things have stayed with me such as teaching myself to play left handed which is good to hitting the table etc which is bad.

I always play to impress my opponent and play silly exhibition type shots too often and when I miss i feel worse because my opponent thinks im crap! But in practice the shots go in?! So I feel confident taking them on. Obviously a concentration thing. Thanks for your PM by the way gonna check out later/tomorrow.

We'll have to play soon. Ronnie87 plays in the same league as me locally and our teams play next month should be interesting. Only problem is I dont drive so will have to sort something out.

yeah think we have the same mentality in the game.

I started playing just before ronnie came on the scene (31 now, 32 very soon ), was always a quick ish player, and yeah exhibition lol, specialy against the type of people i play. I just don't seem to care, when really I do care?? , and just end up missing stupid shots, (always the ones that goes in, in practice )
Need to get out of that trap my self.
Its deffo concentration thing. And its a time thing for me as well as I mostly play during meal relief which is not good, concidering I just ate a big meal

No probs with traveling, as long as my car passes mot next month I will be cool to travel.

                        Look forward to playing.

And don't forget to coach me after watching the vids

As they always say; 'Play the table, not the opponent'.
I don't expect that to help you, I just thought I'd get my first post down.

Yes, I think I'm also guilty of this, trying to impress my opponent and caring more sometimes about what he thought of the easy miss than the consequences it has. This thread has helped though. I'll try the poker face thing when I play next.

                                Hey theguywithaplan

Good im glad its helping someone else as well as myself. I think it stemmed from thinking I was better than I was as a youngster and trying all the fancy dan shots. Then I just carried on like it I suppose. I have a bad habit at times of looking at my opponent as im on the shot which Ive sorted out now thankfully or waiting for him to turn round from the scoreboard to see my shot.
