  • Amazing brace for Seb Worrall

WILTSHIRE snooker ace Seb Worrall emerged from an array of big-hitters to claim the fourth leg of the Cuestars South of England Championship Tour.

A 27-strong high-quality field at Jesters Snooker Hall, Swindon, returned 26 breaks of 50 or more, including two centuries.

Not to be left out, Worrall chalked up a 100 in his 2-0 last-eight success against Ben Tanner (Eastleigh) and added a 95 to wrap up a 2-1 victory in the final over the home club’s Alex O’Donoghue.

It was the 31-year-old Swindon potter’s second successive Cuestars tournament win at Jesters. He also won last October in his only other appearance on the circuit this season.

“I played well all day and felt like I could make a big break every visit,” said Worrall. “My best break was in the final when in the decider I made a 95.

“It was extra special as I made it back-to-back wins at Jesters.”

Worrall, who is based at Swindon Snooker Club, dropped just one frame out of 13 (to Reading’s Martin Wallace) as he powered to top spot in his round-robin group

Richard Clark (Swindon SC) won all five of his group games 2-0 and beat rankings leader Jon Charlton (Selsey RBL) 2-1 in the last-eight. Worrall accounted for Clark 2-1 in the semi-finals.

O’Donoghue disposed of two of the top players from Southampton’s Super League, Churchills teammates Adam Nash and then Billy Castle both 2-1.

Castle compiled a 113 in his 2-0 quarter-final win against Craig Marsh (Crucible, Newbury), who had only lost to Worrall in his group.

Tanner qualified for the knockout in second place in his group by frames difference from Welsh International Callum Lloyd, winner of the second leg in Newbury last November.

The fifth leg of six is at Woking Snooker Centre on Sunday, March 17.
