  • Bill and Ben, the Powerpot Men, to appear at Finals Day

BILL and Ben, the Powerpot Men, have been booked as special guests for the Cuestars Under-21 Finals Day.

No, dear readers, it’s not April 1.

Cuestars director (and chief headline writer) John Hunter has signed up aspiring professionals Billy Castle and Ben Harrison to play trophy winners at Jesters Snooker Hall, Swindon, on Sunday, June 2.

(You can make up your own jokes about Little Weed, as I’m sure you will.)

The two England internationals have played on the Cuestars circuit for many years.

Harrison, who lives in Hawkeridge, near Westbury, re-wrote the Cuestars record books in January, 2011, by compiling a 144 total clearance against Will Meharg (Chandler’s Ford SC) in the group stages of a Championship Tour event at Jesters.

The 21-year-old (pictured above) is one of 110 players from around the globe who have forked out £1,000 to attend World Snooker’s Q School at the World Snooker Academy in the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.

Starting on May 11, after the World Championships, Q School consists of three tournaments. The four semi-finalists from each are awarded two-year tour cards, ie, they will be professionals for at least two years.

Billy Castle, who lives in Marchwood, near Southampton, thrilled spectators with a 100 against Lee Bell (Woolston Social Club) and nine other breaks of 50 or more in a Cuestars Gold Tour leg at Chandler’s Ford SC in February this year.

At the time, he said: “There’s no better feeling than people watching you when you’re playing well.”

The 20-year-old (pictured below) reached the quarter-finals of the IBSF World Championship in Bulgaria last year.

“It’ll be nice to see our home-grown players,” said Hunter, who denied claims that Andy Pandy, Looby Loo and Teddy are lined up for 2014.

I bet they'll also bring a little weed. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!
