  • Sean Harvey takes pole position on Championship Tour

SURREY cueman Sean Harvey has continued his remarkable run of success on the Frames Sports Bar Championship Tour.

The 34-year-old from Longcross has now won four of the five events he has entered since rejoining the Cuestars circuit this time last year.

Harvey, widely recognised as one of the south?s finest amateur players, dropped only one frame out of 16 in the opening leg at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.

And that minor blemish on his record was thanks to a 71 break by 15-year-old Jamie Wilson (Havant) in the last-four of the event sponsored by Nice Clean Ltd.

Only first-time finalist Steven Hughes (Chandler?s Ford) now stood between Harvey and the ?150 top prize.

Harvey, who is based at Staines & District Conservative Club, fired in an 80 break in the first frame of a 3-0 victory and a 48 in the second before his opponent potted a ball.

Hughes progressed past the quarter-finals for the first time in his career with a fine 3-1 victory over former Championship Tour leg winner Neil Craycraft (Didcot).

And the 18-year-old wrapped up a great day with a 3-1 success against last season?s rankings runner-up Ryan Mears (Aldershot).

Kev Impett (Fordingbridge) pocketed ?20 after beating Dale Prout (Newbury) 2-0 in the final of the Plate, a secondary competition for players losing their first match in the main knockout.

Chandlers Ford Snooker Club hosts the second leg of eight on Sunday, October 13.
