You could try Frank Sandell in Worthing if he is still about. Give him a call to see what he has. Worth a visit anyway, as it is somewhat of a snooker museum with lots of interesting bits and pieces. Also worth seeing if the Castle Club in Brighton has anything for sale. Often some cues in a cabinet for sale.

Brands like Master cue, phoenix cues , Maximus cues, Tom Classic cue are tried and tested brands that have consistent quality and should just about come in on your budget depending which model you choose. The difference in these cues compared to say Grand emperor cue which are an ok starter cue is huge. It's all about feel and response and these Thai makers understand that very well whereas some of the cheap Chinese cues feel like broomsticks, so don't buy on looks alone.

Thanks for all your help everyone.
Finally bit the bullet, and went for:
GBL Classic 9.7mm tip, 18.7oz titanium ferrule.
Very excited for its arrival, treated myself to an extension and mini butt with a new case.
Stu at Greenbaize was a gent throughout, nothing too much trouble.
Will post review in due course 👍
