Yes, after a foul there could be a free ball AND snookers (penalty points) required. All depends on how the balls are after the balls come to rest, and how many points each player has.

Thanks for taking the time to reply .we were mid frame the scores were 26 - 50 With only colour’s remaining .I made a foul shot leaving the yellow partially blocked by another colour .can a free ball be called ?as snookers are required?it was a good debate at the time

Thanks for the scenario.
Calling a free ball has NOTHING to do with whether penalty points are required or not; but purely down to whether the cue ball is snookered on the ball on after a foul.

Penalty Points required or not is one of the criteria for a possible Foul and Miss call.
