Hello from Gateshead

Recently started playing again with my son, used to play many many years ago regularly, remember knocking in a few 50 plus breaks, the odd exceptional 90 plus, that was 40 odd years ago, anyway been playing 3 or 4 times a week, had some good coaching sessions with the local Pro, as yet still unable to get past 30 to 40, usually now about 5 balls is the best, my misses are usually to the left so looked up some posssible cause, will give them a try soon. Positionally play is quite bad, and finding it difficult to deliver the cue smoothly and accelerated, so screw shots are just a bit hit n miss. Good forum lots of tips so hope you lot can get me scoring better again! Thanks

Do you play in the Gateshead snooker club? I think John Astley used to coach out of there, he might still do it, good coach if that's who you are with.

Yes I play at Gateshead Snooker club, usually every other day, Had a quite a few coaching sessions with John Astley, yes really good coach, would recommend to anyone at any level. Has helped be with some of the basics, still searching for some consistency (any consistency!) but keep plugging away, most of the time just playing frames with my son, he is around the same level. Never got into any competitions or league as yet but may do, not confident with my game at the moment tho.
