Hi People, I have had the same POWERGLIDE Excalibur cue now since around 1987. It has served me well and still in use. I am considering buying a new cue but I don’t have any idea what could possibly take me to the next level. Any suggestions on a mid priced cue ?

Some may say that a Powerglide of old date is much better then most cues of today.
Some may say that a cue that works for you is worth its weight in gold.
Some may say what is your budget?

            second hand - no idea

Budget Β£100 - I would stay with your Poweglide, maybe give it a treat and give it a refurb at a good cuedoctor

Around Β£150 - Β£200 depending on condition for the first two, Jiang ying play well but are cheaper Chinese cues and some have painted butts not real spicing. If the Ton is a machine splice ( sharp points on the splice fingers) maybe look at a new VR classic here - https://greenbaize.com/vr-cues-origi...58-19-4oz.html

Thank you for your input. If I am going to up my budget then I would try before I buy. I’m in Surrey so any recommendations on places to test any?

Is the Mastercue Tudor a good cue ?
Has anyone used one or still use it?

Yes, one of the original Thai cue makers who made good quality cues that many on here over the years have been happy with. If the cue doesn't play well for you personally it will probably only be due to the spec. They sell very well on eBay for good prices so doubt you will lose much on the purchase.

Mastercue Tudor is their entry level and is machine spliced. I used to have a Mastercue Probutt, which is the next cheapest in their range and was very happy with it for the money. Played great, but the splicing looked a bit rough, but can't really complain as I only paid about Β£120

Had a look at those VR cues in GB, when I got my cue altered last weekend. They weren't out in the new shop but spread out on the tables upstairs. They looked really nice, I didn't get a knock with any but they definitely looked as good as any others and were a decent bit cheaper.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Yep, mine arrived and I had a quick look at it and took it down the club before having to surrender it to family as a Xmas present

It had a nice weight and balance to it and I was pleased with it. It will need a new tip, but I'm quite looking forward to having a practice with it next year. As I said it's a back up cue and I'm happy with my playing cue but it will still be fun.
