  • Snooker cue store recommendation

I’m looking to purchase my first decent snooker cue, any recommendations for a store where I can try some cues before buying?

I’m considering Peradon cues and I’m based in Windsor but happy to travel around 50 miles to a shop with decent range and where I can try on an actual snooker table.

Apart from the cue itself, what other accessories should I consider? I have the following noted:

    1) 3/4 jointed cue
    2) 6” butt extension
    3) telescopic extension (is 23” suitable)
    4) no idea on what case to get, what are the options, soft or metal case?
    5) any accessories to consider besides cleaning cloth and chalk? Chalk send important, what chalks should I consider?

For the cue itself, what are the considerations?

    a) cue length
    b) 2 piece 3/4 jointed
    c) weight
    d) tip brand and size. No idea but read 9.5mm is the size of choice
    e) ferrule. What to consider?
    f) anything I’ve missed

Excited at treating myself to my first decent cue, so it’s got to be right.

    thanks all

I'd suggest a road trip further north. Not much around you I don't think.

Care to name any shops and we’ll see which ones come the closest.

Actually, would be great to get a list of such shops as I imagine quite a few players would prefer to go somewhere to actually try out some cues.

That’s the main reason I haven’t bought a decent cue, just don’t like to order online without having a feel for the cue.

This shop in Waterlooville isn't that far for a trip. Mark who runs the business is a good guy and I believe he has snooker table facilities nearby where you can take a few cues and try them out, by appointment.

We're a little over 50 miles away from Windsor (56.5 miles to be precise) - Hamilton Billiards in Newnham, Herts. SG7 5DP. We stock all Peradon cues and have a full-size table you can try them out on. I think there's only 1 cue from the entire range that we don't currently have in stock - https://www.hamiltonbilliards.com/ac...sions_make=141
