  • Been a while but got the bug back

Yes it’s been a while but was recently introduced to a friend of a friend and while chatting to him it became obvious that he was a massive snooker fan as the conversation was dominated by all things snooker.
I said that I used to played quite regularly and was on the clubs local league team but the club sold the property and relocated ..but something had been lost + other events in life took over and my cue stayed in its case..he (Steve) then stated that he had a table set up in the “potting shed” and invited me over.
The cue came out and I must have at some point purchased 3x Talisman’s so decided to remove the Elk and replace with a Talisman… I also did some work on the cue (grain filler and a re-finish.
The potting shed is a joy to play in …plenty of room, dartboard, snooker memorabilia, nice table. Been going once or twice a week for 2-3 months as it’s only a 30 mins drive.
Steve is not only a snooker fan but is a half decent player …he’s had a 68 but often gets 30+ in frames.
So I’ve definitely got the bug back and my game has improved from the 1st time in the shed having not held a cue for 7-8 years …the last 2 visits I’ve come away with a 6-3 and a 7-4 but you know how it goes, probably get smashed next week lol

Thanks for reading, hoping to be able to to contribute to the forum and will definitely be reading some threads

Good luck getting back in to it and hope you find your old form. I broke my shoulder 15 months ago and didn't think I would be able to play again but it's slowly improving and I can gradually get further down on the shot. I miss spending hours in a peaceful club potting balls and organising my thoughts.

Thank you, playing regular is the only way …glad to hear your injury is improving and you are able to play …
