  • From N. Ireland to the USA

I moved from N. Ireland to the USA last year and have just had my very first snooker table set-up in my house. It's a 10' X 5' Dufferin and I'm having a blast. Not sure of the year of manufacture, but I saw the slate etc as it was being set-up and it all looked in really good nick. It's going to take me a while to become reacquainted with the size of the table as I've been playing pool since I arrived here.

Congrats on getting your table set up, Dale.

I'm compiling a list of pool halls that have snooker tables, so if you haven't already found a snooker table away from home perhaps the list will help.

At first I was just disappointed to discover there were no snooker tables in Boston, and then after googling a bit further it seemed apparent that no one anywhere in the States had a sense how many pool halls still had snooker tables.

If you're looking for competition, consider posting in the Snooker section of the AzBilliards.com forum:

Welcome to TSF and I hope you enjoy your new table, thats probably your best bet as the US seems pool dominated mainly, but I hope you find a place with other snooker tables soon.

welcome to the US, i hope you are getting used to our uncivilized ways ;-).

enjoy your table. i just put a 10 footer in myself.

One problem I find is there are no decent paying partners to push me. I feel like a broken record trying to explain the rules to friends who have never heard of snooker

I am in Lawrence, NY near JFK airport, where are you? if you are not far maybe we could play.

Jam32, I found seven locations in New York with snooker tables, most of which are 6 x 12's. I'll be putting those listings online within the next week or so; perhaps you and dalecan can dredge up some decent players from one of those spots.
