  • Hi all another newb

    Hi all,

Thought i'd join after having a good ole look through over the last week.

I'm Mark, 27 from Tonbridge in Kent, just got back into the game after a year and a bit of not playing since moving. Both my old cues went missing from my old club when i went to collect them- dammit! So its a new start and new cue for me too. Got to say i'm addicted to it again already. My highest break was 52 when i was playing quite regulary. Been playing again for just over a week and back in the 20's. Hoepfully it will start to climb again when playing more often. Got to crack another 50 in!

Great forum, and by the sound of it great members too!

    Mark

Hello mate welcome to the forum. I've only been here a little while myself but you are right it is a cracking place.

Good luck with that highest break. Similar aim to me in breaking 50, although my current best is a lowly 36

thanks for making us all smile Mark... hope that elusive half century's just round the corner.

We should have a map with pins for where we all are; all over the world! There's a thread for highest breaks, post it in there and I'll update it; you'll be in the top 20 I think.

          Welcome
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

            Cheers all for the welcome!

Reverse_Side will do. On my way to post my break, does my one from a year ago count as is it the current one ?

We could do a map using the google one, we just have to enter our co-ordinates.

Hi Mark, we can use your best-ever from a year ago as long as it was against an opponent; if you beat it, we can enter the new one in red.

As for the Google map, there's an API we just need some help with for adding some push-pin features for adding members' locations. I've posted some info in the Feedback sub-forum and I've experimented with it on my little website. It's free and all the board's forum need do is register with google and get the code... took me about 1 minute but I already had a Gmail account.

              Could be brilliant.

(PS looking up push-pins I saw an article on some students who've made a notice-board that links with digital push pins that interact with what you post up there on a PC screen.... I like)

                Hi Dave,

Here is a map i started knocking up a while back for places i been too. So it would look something like this.

                My Map [URL="http://www.rvs.eclipse.co.uk/testmap.shtml"]

If you send me your co-ordinates i'll start a snooker one going. Same for anybody else if they wish to be added let me know.

                Thanks,
                Mark

you're right MArk, it does take time... but then sometimes, a great break comes up and Tango's you?

Ps I posted your map info over on the "member map" thread if that's okay, http://www.thesnookerforum.com/showthread-t_1007.html

                      Mark,

I know how frustrating it is.
                      This is what I do
After the game, I put the cue and red ball at the same spot and play about 20 shots making sure the red goes in
                      Same speed
The next time I play and come across it. I feel more confident and make it with ease
                      Hope this helps
