He's given me about maybe 2 hours coaching me in my lifetime as the only time I got to play properly was at his snooker club but he was always busy and doesn't have it anymore. But all he taught me was how to stand and what kind of shots I should go for a certain times. Hes always said i've got the best cueing hes ever seen :P so hes never had to help me out with that. So anyway all of that has randomly come together now and I felt comfortable with every shot I played today but just need to start playing regulary and improve now i thinks He does always try to help me out when ever he can by the way :P hes just very busy

          Hi Dale

I can remember your old man playing cards (more than snooker) in Stafford Snooker Club.

Where do you play in Stafford?

Your first step is getting a regular game in the League. Its a much different league now than when I was your age, the opportunities are fewer, as clubs have closed, or no longer enter teams. I think the only clubs that have any Juniors playing are the Universal and Derrington.

Hi Dale. Just got your dad's 104 & 140 breaks from 1988 WC converted to DVD tonight. I will try to get someone to post them on YouTube this week. If you wish, I can post this DVD to you if you know how to upload it. Cheers, Mick.

Yeah I remember Steve James. He got to a lot of QFs and SFs in 1990-1991. I also remember him winning the Mercantile Credit Classic on ITV. He was an excellent potter and played pretty fast. At that time he was a top notch breakbuilder. I also remember he had a mullet. Anyway after 1992 he seemed to lose his form which was a shame.

i always thought Steve's style of play was not too disimilar from Jimmy White's. I was watching a match of your Dad's last night against Alex in the 1990 Pearl Assurance British Open...shame he didn't play to his full potential that day. Did he ever talk to you about the match and his reasons why he lost so heavily?
"Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."
